Scary
I never thought that a top-down game could be so scary. The game plays with your mind from the very beginning and you will never know what's going to be hidding in the next corner. The feeling of loneliness and constant danger is always present. The artwork is gorgeous in his own twisted way. Get it if you like games with a heavy atmosphere (kinda reminds me of STALKER), constant tension. Don't get it if you want a light-hearted survival game.

The door opened by itself... enough said
Ok, I just bought this game yesterday. I've been meaning to try it out for a while now and just grabbed it on sale. This game kept me up past midnight and I was scared to death! I haven't had a game actually cause my adrenaline to kick in for a long time. This game did that. You're in a forest that's overtaken everything. You don't know why. You don't know how. But there's a doctor that wants you dead. And so does practically everything else apparently. Very immersive atmosphere. Sound effects are spot on. Wind rustling through the trees, rain pouring all around, leaves crunching under your feet. Perfect music, awkward silence, and suspenseful darkness. The first night I had my character barricaded in the first house with a lamp nearby and a piece of wood with nails sticking out of it was my crafted weapon. The generator was humming in the other room and I was praying that the gas I hat put in earlier lasted through the night. It was pitch black outside of the house, and I could hear footsteps, boards creaking, and voices. And then there was a banging sound. And then the FREAKING DOOR OPENED BY ITSELF! I ran over and closed it and backed into my corner again. I'm telling you, when that crescendo of the sunrise music reached it's peak and the light came in through the cracks in the boarded window I was genuinely relieved. Night two wolves broke into the house and I had to fight for my life. This game is eerie, abrasive, and stressful. In short: I love it, and I can't wait to play more.

Survival Horror done well
Great atmosphere, solid story. I've been aggravated by the clunky fighting mechanics (though I think that's a feature, rather than a flaw), and sometimes dodging enemies and camoflagued bear traps gets old.

Great suspense-filled journey
I really enjoyed this game. It kept me interested throughout. The combat is simple but intense because of spacing and sightlines, and the story doesn't get in the way and is shown through interactions with characters and the world. The game just drops you in and doesn't hold your hand and I love that. I think more games should do that because when you find secrets they feel much more meaningful. The only real issue I had with the game is at the halfway point I thought the game was going to end. The game told me to "just take the essentials", so...I did. I should have brought a lot more. The game was not over yet. A minor gripe I have is that the upgrade paths are pretty short. I maxed inventory and hold item space before halfway through the game. I maxed my ability tree just after I got to the halfway point. I wish there was a little more. I played this on Void Linux with no issues.
