Zelda + Brütal Legend + Bible + Comics
This is a pretty nice bit of software that probably spawned after a teleporter mishap caused by someone who tried to teleported the Bible, a copy of Twilight Princess and a couple of iron age superhero comics (In fact the game has a PDF file with one) which is not a big surprise since the creative directow was Joe Madureira... a comic book writer and artist by trade. The main character is... well a comic book anti hero. He's the type of guy you'd see punching out with wolverine and the hulk. He's as bulky as a space marine and swings his unpractically huge sword that cleaves demons and angels in half. The combat is... ok. It's not nearly as fleshed out as the likes of Bayonetta or newer God of War titles and it's quite honestly kinda boring at first as all you can do is swing your sword and jump. This changes as you buy more moves from the merchant and learn how to counter (which is surprisingly hard to pull off at first since the enemies don't telegraph their attacks with flashing iceons like it's the case in arkham style combat). In short i'd say the combat starts boring but gets upgraded over time into being actually enjoyable and the tools you earn in various dungeons act as weapons that make certain enemies possible/easier to defeat. Staying true to the zelda series the game has a good amount of puzzles and spots where you need to use an item in order to acquire a collectible or item that pushes the game onwards. The backtracking was however limited to just the overworld as you can get everything in each dungeon by using the item you find there. This reduces the amount of backtracking. Also as someone who used to watch Samurai Jack back then i was amazed when one of the characters you get to meet was... basically the scotsman. Then you have also Mark Hamill doing the joker voice basically haunting War. I'm torn whether i should give this game 4 or 5 stars tho. There are better fighting games out there but there are only so many Zelda-likes on PC... 5.

A great cross between Zelda and GOW
Disclosure: I own this game on Steam, so my review applies to the game itself while assuming there are no gameplay differences between the GOG and Steam versions. Darksiders is a cross between Legend of Zelda and God of War. There is exploration rivaling that of Orcarina of Time between levels, but with combat similar to beat-em-ups such as God of War. The game constantly throws new things at you to keep it fresh, and while it doesn't do anything particularly original, it uses the mechanics that it "steal" to their fullest potential for maximum fun. This makes it a great game in itself precisely because it builds upon existing mechanics rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. A controller is highly recommended in a game like this, KB+M doesn't cut it here.

Stunning.
Ok, so if you are a fan of Zelda, Soul Reaver, and God of War... and have ever wished that somehow those 3 games could somehow be mashed together into one cohesive, smooth gaming experience... Look no further. This is the game you've waited for. I was not expecting to be enthralled by this game. The graphics are superb, and the music and atmosphere are fantastic. Something right out of a horror story. There is a linear story line, but it is combined with the open-worldness of Soul Reaver, and has special items and maps like Ocarina of Time. The fighting is similar to the hacking and slashing from the God of War series, and at times can feel a bit repetitive, but there are plenty of puzzles to even the game-play out. I was gifted this game... So I can't complain about the price. Though after playing it I would say it is worth the full price if you can afford it, and if you get it on sale so much the better. Took me a long time to beat, as the game was longer than I thought it would be. Great game.

What a great game
It's like a blend between Legend of Zelda and God of War (with a heavy influence from the latter), great action, i like the swordplay, and I love the fact you get the dash from the start, it is really enjoyable to dash around delivering blows with your weapons. The story is decent, the graphics are nice and the music gets you in the mood, but the combat is the jewel of the crown My biggest criticism is the controls, being a console port it could have been handled better, you have to press a combination of buttons (in my case mouse 5 +1) to use an item instead of selecting said item with a key(1-4) and using it with another (mouse 5), that made me pass almost all the skills, the only useful one was stoneskin, a life saver at least until I got the abyssal armor. Overall it took me some time to get used to the controls, fortunately the most important part (the hacking and slashing) doesn't suffer from it
