If you resist the first chapter of the game it becomes a LOT better. That said, the first chapter is super buggy and you must save a lot. Sidekicks are problematic so I suggest playing without them. You can see how great this game was supposed to be but the implementation leaves a lot to be desired even with the 1.3 patch but I won't lie this game is special and super fun.

I played it with unofficial patch 1.3. Only thing to say, it was very ahead of its time and the used quake2 engine was not ready for all the features it should have. Game has very good level design, music plays very well along. Puzzles are good. Weapons also fit in. You can even "level up" some perks (power, speed, etc). You should really give it a try. In todays fancy graphics, cheap stories and toddlers gameplay stands very well. Go and try for your self.

I mean, the first episode is an absolute mess. But the whole idea and art style was very 2000s and I see how this could have turned out amazing at the time... Unfortunately thats another timeline. I say give it a go with patch 1.3 and if those sidekicks piss you off, just disable them

Buying that game was a real disappointment. The best part of the game was the stylish packed. The game lacked every i was locking for. It was at the high of first person shooter that the game was released. Everyone was looking for it, designed by John Romero, swords and rpg...what could go wrong with that? Well nearly everything. Back than even with an high end PC the frame rate was horrible.....but why? Not because of impressing graphics....no because of bad programing. But the worst was your company of the 2 idiots. They get killed and killed and killed.
