Great game, awesome city and world

The game is great. Great gameplay, great music, great writing, great graphics. It is an overall awesome package. Additionally the Phantom Liberty main story is top notch and may even surpass the base game in it's quality. I think it also has the greatest feeling city I've ever experienced in a game, that feels lived in and alive. I do think it is greater than the sum of it's parts as I feel it's crowning achievement is of its continual complicated moral issues and situations it puts you in. Rarely is there ever a right or wrong option, as it will regularly put you in an awful situation, make you pick an outcome, and then force you to live with the consequences of it. To me it really drives home the themes of this dirty and messy world that you get to be a part of. I purchased and played with the release of Phantom Pain/Ultimate Edition, so by that time it performed well, was almost completely bug free, and I only suffered a single crash in nearly 100 hours of play.

Game that brought balance to the force

I was very skeptical about this game because I DON'T LIKE cyberpunk lore. But the story in Edgerunners got me hyped enough to give it a try. Do I regret it? Not at all! But my wife sure does—I've been completely unreachable since the start of the year. All I do, all I think about, is this incredible game. Yes, it has some bugs. Yes, there’s some untapped potential that will probably be fully realized in the sequel. But the feeling this game gives me is hard to describe. I thought I was too old to truly enjoy games anymore. Turns out, most modern titles are just soulless, profit-driven calculations. Here, you can feel the heart. A great story, an amazing world, real emotions. I can already tell that once I finish the game, I’ll probably feel a bit empty—but it will be worth it. This is easily in my top 10 games of all time. Could it be better? Sure. I wish the side activities were as immersive as the main quests, but if the game were perfect, what would there be to improve in the sequel? NPCs can be a bit dumb, but playing on hard or very hard still offers a great gameplay experience. If you love a good story, even without being a cyberpunk fan—you’re going to love this game.

One of the best games out there

Its one of the best games i´ve ever played. The whole game is perfect, the graphics are gorgeous, the city is too beautiful, the game content is awesome with lot of side quests very well accomplished (above all panam quests). The main history is very inmersive, with lot of action, sadness, tension and etc. Im not gonna say much more to not spoil the game for you. If i'll lose my memory and had to play it again, i'll sure do it one and thousand more times. So go for it, enjoy the game, if you can get it on sale much better, i hope you enjoy it to the fullest.

Amazing in some places, sloppy in others

Couple of disclaimers: I didn’t follow the game before release and have no idea if promises were broken. I only picked this up with 2.1 as a discounted bundle. So, my perspective is without consideration of hype. TLDR: While there was a lot of work put into this game, the results are mixed. If you get it, do so during a sale. This is an interesting game. The story and world weave elements together that point to an exciting narrative involving transhumanism and some other points. Then there’s the unpolished elements, that fight against the hard work. The result is something that is kind of mediocre overall. I wish they had focused on either the story or the world more. Combat felt fine, there’s an odd split between stealth and violence that didn’t tend to add much. I say that because both sneaking and fighting became rather repetitive in their own ways. Story wise there were elements I liked and elements that I didn’t like. It felt like it was in most places style over substance. The open world aspect of things also creates issues. Namely, things may be presented as being time critical, but have no real timer associated with them. I actually went to a quest point an hour before a ten hour timer was up. I figured the wait here point would simply have me wait another hour. Nope, it pushes me forward another ten hours. There were also some details as they relate to the wider world that didn’t strike me as being well thought through, but those may be inherited from the IP itself. There can be some tone problems with presented dialog options and the result. At a technical level I had three crashes in around 60 hours of gameplay. Not great, not terrible. Bugs weren’t any more annoying than what you’d find in other open world games. Weird intersections with the dead and terrain or other objects. There was one in a final sequence where vehicles spawned on top of each other. Not a great look for what should have been a high octane, character building closing sequence.
