A mediocre looter shooter!

The game does not deserve it, but I will start with the good anyway: - The graphics are good - Night City looks amazing The bad: - Customization is not in the game as the only things the full-sized customizable player icon shares with the PC are the face and body texture. - The only thing the Life Paths govern in-game is the starting outfit as all of the conversation choices are just another means to the same end. - V has even less personality than Sophie Turner! - Whoever is responsible for the keyboard layout and the game interface needs firing as this goes way beyond simple incompetence! - The game world feels empty as you can roam for hours without encountering a single NPC you can interact with in any meaningful way. - If all of the single-choice conversations ingame are made without the need for the player to press F to continue the game will be reduced to a Kinetic Novel! - There is no roleplay to be found. - There is no ownership in the game and consequently zero immersion (although that is only one of the reasons that). - Stealth is unrewarding and pointless as it does not result in a different outcome other than some fixers saying that there is a bonus for it, which you cannot even confirm as rewards are random (strike two for immersion btw) - The nonviolent option is a sick joke as instead of offering a bunch of nonlethal weapons with their own unique takedowns and quirks the game just gives you the equivalent of a few sticky notes with a sentence of flavor text on them containing the phrase "nonlethal" which you can stick to your weapon or cyberware! Oh, and V is clearly depicted blowing an enemy with a shotgun in the welcome to NC montage, you know as a casual bird flip from CDPR for all of the players looking forward to the nonlethal path. - Nothing from the Welcome to NC montage is actually in the game with the exception of the shooting - A list of missing features longer than Skyrim's bug list!

A 4-star early release of a 5-star game

I played this game for 110 hours according to my save games. The main quest is good, not great, but that's what you expect from AAA+ games nowadays. It has to check all the tropes of mainstream entertainment nowadays, so it's competent but not special. There are good moments and notable chracters. Some endings are better than others. The world is a mixed bag. The city is stunning and somewhat plausible, it has the feel of a large third world metropolis, but more violent, and with retro-futiristic tech. Governments are pretty much gone. There are mega-corporations that are constantly fighting, largely replacing the major governments in the world stage: the USA becomes Miltech, Japan becomes Arasaka, China becomes Kang Tao, etc. The Internet is basically gone. It's a great background, somewhat plausible. On the other hand the NPCs in the city are empty shells that walk around for no reason. No interaction is possible. Shenmue, released in 1998(!) on the Dreamcast, had better NPCs and allowed more interaction. There is a very pleasing range of possible builds. You can go netrunner (a hacker, the equivalent of a magical class in this game), you can specialize in specific types of guns (your ranged class), or hand-to-hannd combat, or katanas, baseball bats... (your melee class), go stealthy (your "rogue"). Some are better developed than others. Overall if you run enough side quests, and pick your talents even reasonably well, the game will be so easy you will swap to the Very Hard difficulty level, and it will still be very easy to beat. Even so, I beat the game twice, and I still want to roll another character to see how it plays. There is a real good game beneath the bugs (the worst being AI). It needs polish, balancing, and a higher difficulty level. Cyberpunk 2077 is good now, but I can see it becoming great after a few patches. You can be adventurous and try it now, or wait a few patches for the really great that is lurking beneath the current release.

Great game but very flawed

Great game, just not what was promised. In a lot of aspects it feels very outdated like AI and physics. If you go in expecting a masterpiece then youll be disappointed so if you want to buy it i recommend you to expect a game like any other. I really enjoyed this game but it really does have its problems that will take you out of the inmersion. Yes i recommend this game, you can enjoy it if you want to instead of cricitzing every single detail. But still, theres no denying of the state it launched in and the problems within this game
