I didn’t have High expectations for the game so that’s probably the reason I’m not disappointed. It runs well on my RTX 2060 laptop on Ultra (RTX off) and on Medium (RTX on) there are still many visual bugs but I didn’t encounter any that were gamebreaking. I really like the story. The world feels lived in even though the NPC don’t react as natural as in a GTA V or RDR2. The vehicles handle a bit sensitive on Mouse and keyboard but I got used to it about 2 hours in. The graphics are great even though they aren’t the best I’ve seen.
I would recommend everyone to at least try it and if its not their kind of game go refund it.
Cyberpunk 2077 supposed to be grand game of year. What happened? Due to the limited length of reviews on Gog, I make a review that describes the current state of the game.
-The game user interface is typical Xbox console game. I think CD Project Red ported this game from Xbox One and forgot to remove Xbox specific files like memory_pool_budgets.csv, which limits CPU and GPU usage in game. The file was actually removed in 1.05 patch and after that, game started to run smoothly but not perfectly.
-Unstable FPS and performance issues.
-Broken side-quest and gigs.
-Bad car/motorcycle driving controls
-Clumsy mouse/keyboard controls.
-Bug infested game. (For example you can sometimes walk through pedestrians, items missing icons and message text stuck on screen.)
-Iconic items buggy. Some old iconic items stay in your inventory after you upgrade their rarity and you can not drop or put items to your stash. Old item causes extra weight in your inventory.
-GIGS are too repetitive.
-Bad Ai behavior.
-If you kill accidently pedestrian, what happens next. You become wanted. The cops don’t want to arrest you and impose a fine or put you in jail for the offense, they just want to kill the player. Driving a car or running away from area, cops forget your crime and that´s it.
-Limited character creation. You can choose dick size of your character but it doesn't really matter. You can be shemale in this game if you wish.
-Game randomly crashes and freezes.
-Almost no weather changes
-Sometimes i have to restart game, if cutscenes do not work.
-Poor romance choices.
Let´s talk positive things about the game:
-The game graphics are beautiful.
-Some mainquest and sidequest characters are interesting and dramatic.
-Wide city for exploring.
The game main story is average. Some times game offers plot twists and excitement but often game stumbles upon easy story choices.
I wish good luck to CD projekt Red to fix game problems.
I'm not great at writing reviews, so I'll just list things that I didn't like:
1. Bugs
Lots of them in this game. NPCs t-posing, player character flying to the other side of the map after climbing some things, some cutscenes break if there is a checkpoint during one and you have to load that checkpoint.
2. Gameplay
Driving feels terrible. Have you ever tried steering a full shopping cart? Yeah, that's how cars behave in this game.
The perk system need a rework. Perks like 3% damage increase to a specific type of weapon should be things that you get from the skill progression system. All the more meaningful perks are locked behind like 15+ attribute requirement, which makes me not want to spend any perk points on the early ones. Guess I'l just have to wait for perk rework mods like in Witcher 3.
Side content - some of the side missions are pretty interesting. The rest is just boring filler, go to an area, kill everyone, loot an item, repeat.
3. Miscellaneous stuff
Some of the PC controls are weird. Why not let players set a dedicated dodge button, like it is on consoles? Why is the skip dialouge button the same as toggle crouch button? Sometimes I try sneaking around during a convo and I skip parts of it because of that. Also no button to toggle walk/run.
Remember that gameplay footage where they showed the Sasquatch fight? Yeah, in-game it's not as cool as in the trailer. She got stunlocked with a shotgun, and when she finally threw me down to jack in, she was already at 10%, so there wasn't any sense of urgency to kill her faster. There's a lot of amazing things that were shown in the promo materials, a lot of those things just fall flat on their face in-game.
CDPR also said that they scrapped 3rd person cutscenes because of immersion, didn't stop them from making 3rd person a default for vehicles. They probably knew that vehicles are pretty much undrivable in 1st person, which sucks because the interiors look really detailed.
I didn't set set any crazy expectations for this game nor did I really anticipate it. That said, I mostly enjoyed my experience but a few things held the game back from being amazing for me.
Firstly; the key mapping for keyboard is very restrictive. Eventualy I got used to the controls the game wanted me to use but I still would rather map things to my liking because it was rather uncomfortable.
Secondly; Bugs! Far too many times did I see visual errors like phones floating in mid-air and T-posing NPCs. The worst bug came from almost every boss fight I encountered - Far too many times did they just give up and stop moving or fall through the ground.
Apart from the bugs, I found combat to be generally serviceable at best and janky at worst.
I'm sure most of these issues will be resolved but for now I'd say the game is in an okay state. You've prolly already bought it anyway, haha.
you can't walk in a normal pace, that's what pisses me off the most. I want to enjoy the world, not speedrunning it.
obviously the future doesn't need bicycles, cops aren't driving around, you can't sit in ever chair etc, can't drive in first person because I can't see enough through the window, would've loved modding my cars, dialoge options are no real options because you're often forced to choose one answer, buying a new appartement, decorating it etc.
besides the crashes and everything above, I have to say that I still love this game and even if it kills me restarting it every 4 minutes it's worth the 4 minutes.
