An unfinished masterpiece

Let me start off by saying that I absolutely loved about half of this game and was downright confused by the design choices in the other half. First off, I know that half of my initial complaints about the game were due to my own expectations rather than the fault of the game itself. I thought I'd be playing a game that might also be called "Netrunner" but, nope, I'm playing a game as a Solo. That's on me. That's not a problem with the game. And a lot could be said about other, similar, expectations. But there are some baffling design choices. There are dozens and dozens of cars in the game, for example. You can drive a cruddy little dinky car or a sexy roadster or a musclely truck. And they all handle pretty much the same. There are dozens of kinds of food in the game. Each lovingly designed and each with a funny description. Some are candy, some are vegetarian, some brag about having 70% syn-meat derivatives. But each and every one gives 450 seconds of nourishment. Not one gives 449 or fewer seconds. Not one gives 451 or more. If you master headshots as a sniper, you'll never need to upgrade your gun. Why bother doing 7000 points of damage instead of 6000 points of damage when most enemies have 3000 HP? That said, the story to the game had me hooked. The themes explored by the game were Cyberpunk AF, as the kidz say. Some of the stories were offensive, some disgusting, some jaw-dropping but I was engaged and couldn't wait to see what happened next. When it came to exploring a Cyberpunk society, this game exceeded my expectations... and, seriously, my expectations were *HIGH*. I beat the game after 150 hours of playing and sighed happily. I was *SATISFIED* by this game. But I can't wait for the modders to fix it (as it is, I needed a mod to fix the dodging-while-sneaking mechanic). I can't wait for the DLC to give it a little more meat. Or, at least, 70% more syn-meat derivatives. An amazing, flawed, unfinished masterpiece.

Still needs work; shoulda been delayed

So I've put over 60 hours into the game so far, focusing side quests and haven't finished the main story. At this point, theres still plenty more time I could put into the game before the end and not 100% it, but the actual main story is pretty straight forward and I'd estimate could be done first playthrough in 10-15 hours if you absolutely rushed it and were skilled enough to handle it. Pros: -Very lgbtq inclusive, including trans character creation options (masculine body and voice with vagina, or vice versa, or any mix thereof). Kinda sad they don't have an androgynous voice with how much focus they seemed to put into this, seems like an oversight. Transwoman character has her own side story that is NOT focused around her being trans, and is voiced by a transwoman. Romance options for LGB folks as well. -The game itself has a very solid core, fun gameplay, and interesting, in-depth story. Unique world and gorgeous art, the world building is pretty spectacular. -you can tell a lot of thought, heart, and effort went into the actual game, even if this did not translate into bug fixing and testing well. Cons: -Even on PC, and weeks after it came out, there are a shit ton of bugs. Won't list them all, plenty of forums for that. Very few were game breaking, so mostly just funny/kinda annoying sometimes. -Game spikes hard in boss difficulty mid way, then drops again. A "ninja" brought difficulty from a 2/10 (playing on hard) to 10/10, then back down to 2/10 after. Going as a hacker/stealth build, being forced into an essentially melee fight with a ninja who one combo'd me was not fun, prevented me from playing the build I focused around, and I essentially had to bug cheese him to win (easy to do right now). -Game has a few driving missions and a few races that were made disappointingly easy (cars slowed down to let you catch up). Overall, recommend to wait a few more months for more bugs to be ironed out before purchasing, but well worth it.

A good game, for what it is.

Firstly let's say: The game was hyped and delayed to the point where people simply expected too much. Following this, the game got panned for not living up to any of it, as well as for it's imperfections, glitches and bugs, even if i personally met none that prevented me from playing or enjoying the game for what it is. (Not making excuses, just saying short and simple to not take all the more personally butthurt people too seriously, with their ranting, raving and nitpicking just because they are stupid enough to pre-order something and then not get what they THOUGHT it would be) Anyway: The game takes what is possible with current hardware and gives you a sex- and neon-bathed cyberpunk city, with more shady dealings and people you want to shoot in the skull then being on a GTA online server with modders. The storyline is semi-linear as to make it all meet up at a common end-point for the final decision with options unlocking depending on what missions you did up to that point. (You return to that point after finishing an ending, so you can choose another ending or do more missions, so don't worry too much with the saving/loading in that regard) The game itself reminds me personally of Deus Ex Invisible War from my younger years, with it's wide choice of play-styles, entry-points, conflict-handeling and at times even ways of finishing the goal itself. Then add some GTA-ish driving and Borderlands-style weapon/item stats and looting, and you're just about there. The cyberpart upgrades enable you to access (if you want) either blades, monowire and super-charged fists as built-in weapons that don't need a dedicated slot, along with a collection of upgrades to your character you can choose to fit your play-style. (These can be changed around at a ripperdoc if you want) The expansive skill choices accomodate a wide possibility of adjustments along with the cyberparts, clothes and weapons. Allround i recommend the game, though maybe preferred on a sale.

Waiting for fix

To be honest I spent hours with these game but I still at the very beginning of the game due to tons of bugs & crashes. Also I wasn't feeling the main characters at all. The were so boring & forgetable. They just seemed so fake, no personality what so ever (main character). Enemies are huge bullet sponges to the point it's laughable. And something strange keeps happening & I have no idea whats happening in the game while in combat it says I'm overheating & I watch a bar on the bottom of the screen go all the way up. And I catch on fire & stay on fire for a good minute. I have no idea why this is happening. But it is so annoying. I've asked 3 other people I know who have this game. I asked then whats going on with this & they all said the same thing they have no idea. The game doesn't explain this or how to stop it. Who knows maybe it's just another bug. What makes me sad is this game should NEVER have been released in this state. What ever happened to releasing a game when it's ready. What ever happened to fixing bugs before the game comes out. Will any of these companies be responsible. This same thing happened with Red Dead 2 & it left a bad taste in my mouth. And after all this time with all the bugs being fixed I still can't bring myself to play it. Because I can't get that bad taste out my mouth. And I bet the game is amazing. Buit to many bad memories. I just wish these companies would listen to the consumer. We don't want to hear I'm sorry over & over. Actions speak louder then words. Sorry for the rate. I'll change my review when these things get fixed. Last thing it's not even fair to all the developers who put so much into this game & worked so hard on it. Just to have everyone tear it apart for the bugs. It's a loss, loss on both sides of the coin. And just doesn't seem fair to do that to everyone that worked on this project

Almost, but not quite

I won't go much into detail about the mechanics here. Plenty of other people have allready done so. I will say that the feel of the gameplay have improved after 1.2 though. Over all i like the game. I feel it has yet to live up to its potential though. And as much as i want to play "My V" and make my choises, the game doesn't let you. I often end up feeling like i'm along for the ride instead of deciding it. CDProject has layed a good fundation and world here, it is a shame i can't interact with more of it. I for one would love if i could do jobs for maxtax or trauma team later in the game. espechally maxtax after talking with the events in the clothes shop. the "posh" clothes shop who wont sell me a fricking suit btw. i mean its right there on the stand next to the vendor... Now for a wall of text and thoughts. After the first playthrough i did i thought "this is pretty good". I had few to none noticable problems with bugs and finished the game relatively smoothly. at least compared to other similag games i've played throughout the years. The key was as allways; avoid the main quests like the plague as long as possible. Little did i know, as i noticed soon after, that this was especially true for Cyberpunk. And given the whole time sensistivity of the storyline, i tend to rush ahead with it when the "shit hits the fan" in the story. Otherwise it kinda breaks the whole immersion. so i routinely cleaned out the quest markers on my map and went to speak with Hanako. Little did i know how much i missed out on. Which i soon realised in my second playthrough. I soon realised that many quests didn't trigger until a certain time after another thing. So now i skip time after everything i finish. Which most definetly is immersion breaking. Something else i noticed during my 2nd playthrough. I was dealing with a lot more bugs. And this was after 2-3 patches. I suppose i was lucky my 1st time through.
