I'll not spoil but the end is a pure scam. Who did wrote this outrageous end ? It's unbelievable we did end the game like that.
Still no news from the devs about the first free DLC and we are at more than the middle of the year.
I guess this game could be an extraordinary experience if CDP(R) refused to enter in the Stock Exchange, it ruined the spirit of the company and added more pression from the shareholders which resulted a rushed release of the game which needed 2 or 3 more years of development.
Now, us the players, we play or have played an unfinished game.
This is why the game deserves 0 to 1 star.
There are some flaws in this game, and I am not talking about bugs.
Everything in this game looks like it has been drafted and developed without any iteration.
The UI is wrong. It is hard to use, hard to understand, and more important, most of the things you have in there are useless.
A good design leaves out things that are not adding anything to the experience. Here we have a perk to remove/disassemble useless stuff from the inventory. Without it, the inventory is quickly filled with useless stuff, called JUNK.
The result: The player learns not to pick up junk from the world way before enabling the auto disassemble perk.
Who in the world decided to include this mechanic in the game? What is this adding to my gameplay? The player is learning not to collect stuff, not to "collect materials for the crafting system".
The entire UI has been created with only one objective in mind: being hard to use and to understand. And it succeeds. From icons to interactions, everything is frustrating to use. I really try to not open the menu or the inventory unless it is really necessary.
This is just... underdeveloped, underdesigned, undertested.
The story is... a story. I found it boring, but that's me.
I think the best part of the game is the photomode, and it is mediocre at best. The idea of the drone is neat, but the limitations imposed to its movements are pointless.
I don't remember ever being so disappointed by 60€.
Ah, driving and shooting, two minor mechanics in the game, feel bad. Really.
i can't seem to play it in anything other than <10 minute chunks because it just keeps crashing, and i lose on average 2 minutes of progress. i want to love it, it's beautiful and i love the setting. but i need to be able to RUN it in order to be able to enjoy it. please fix.
At this point in time, most of the biggest bugs are fixed, but the game is still lacking. A lot of the features promised before release are still not present and will probably never be implemented. There is barely any consequential roleplaying in the game, which is the biggest flaw for me, and the NPC AI is absurdly horrible to the point it's laughable. Night City, while certainly pretty, never really feels alive because of this, which really breaks the immersion.
There is fun to be had, but the more you play, the more the cracks start to show.
The Good
Visually.. wow.
Soundtrack - fantastic.
Story - interesting and engaging (though i really didn't connect with any of the characters)
Main quests & some side quests, unique and typically rewarding
The Bad (aka everything else)
Gameplay - often repetitive and bland (maybe 4 or 5 archetypes of missions.. if you've played Far Cry, you've played this game)
Progression - largely pointless (why bother with a 3% increase to blah - when i can just walk into a room, shoot enemies in the face and heal, get a slightly better gun, rinse and repeat - because the enemies are too dumb to bother with any of the progression items)
Environment - shallow and lifeless. sure, looks beautiful, but after 5 minutes, you release everything in the world is cosmetic. Almost nothing is interactive, charcaters models and objects repeated over and over (and it seems 2 sex workers service the entire city... no thanks, i'll take Judy). The world seems to promise so much verticality.. though almost never leverages it.
AI - oh god. iditotic. NPCs, enemies, police, bosses, friendlies. just look it up on youtube if you don't believe me.
Bugs - everywhere. Sometimes hilarious, in my case, sometimes game breaking (had to reload and repeat a good couple of hours work in one instance)
Despite my long list of negatives, there are certainly moments where the systems click - and fun can be had. But those moments are few and far between. I really hope they double-down on this game, the way that the No Man's Sky team did. It is salvagable.
