Played through 1 time it was ok. Story had enough choices to merit a second playthrough about a year later to see what I may have missed the first time. Problem is it still has lots of bugs/glitches that I remember on my fist go. I'm about 75% through my second run and I am still finding things that break and don't work properly, but nothing a quick save reload hasn't fixed. Overall a solid 3.5/5
I'm truly amazed that a bug that has been with the game since the start and that is game breaking has not been addressed all this time. Had I known such a thing exists I would never of bought it, even as part of this whole new 2.0 fancyness.
The bug I'm talking about? Where you get your screen to permanently be fuzzy and shaking and making some noise. It's some sorta effect applied in the cutscene that just never goes away. It's not possible to play like this.. Thus making it GAME BREAKING.
And in 3 years they haven't managed to fix it? Incompetence. I don't even care about the rest of the game given how stupid this situation is. Time to see if I can get a refund. Same sorta stupid shit happned with Witcher 3 'next gen' update also so CDPR are just a bunch of overhyped donkeys with no quality control at all.
People who were early adopters got to be beta testers for 2.0 and essentially the full game release. Do early access like Larian if your're gonna pull that crap. If I would have known the fixed game and additional content would be bundled for what should have been the full game 3 years down the line I would have waited. Now I'll just wait for my $60 to rot and the price to come down on Liberty City, I mean Phantom Liberty to 5 bucks or less so I don't feel totally screwed and only have to pay $5 over full price, yay!!!!! So here ya go GoG. Here's my one and only review. As far as game play, its a game, plays a lot like GTA, except Rockstars games are much more fleshed out at launch. Have no clue how it is now, like I said I'll play it again when I feel the full game is out and its dirt cheap.
So many people are praising this game because it's fixed by a paid expansion. I bought this game on launch and it was a 2 star experience.
The recent praise for the game made me consider the expansion, but my principals will not allow me to spend additional money on an expansion that introduces fixes that should have been part of the base game.
I already feel scammed for buying the game, and if I buy the expansion I will feel like I am rewarding them for scamming me with the base game.
Plus the main story is a major reason why the game is a 2 star experience, and I doubt an expansion will be changing that quest-line.
It's 2 stars and I reject the notion that I should pay more money to receive an experience I should have received on launch.
I have now finished this game for the second time, with Phantom Liberty installed.
It's just breathtaking. Sometimes I just wandered through the streets, slow, looking around, taking in the sights and sounds of Night City. Especially the sound design in these moments is amazing, a mishmash of languages from all sides, music from radios and shops, honking cars, announcements from speakers at the crossings, the wind whistling through the streets.
And that brings me to the next thing: I am amazed how well this game runs now. Ok, I have a high end CPU, but my graphics card is "only" a plain RTX4070. Even with 4k graphics and Raytracing I have around 60 fps. Well done CDPR!
It's an experience I will never forget, and it gave me back the sense of wonder. I forgot how great a Triple A game can be if the devs put their heart and soul into it.
I will replay this game in a year, or maybe two. And I'm looking forward to it! I can understand V has no intention of leaving this amazing nightmare of a city.
