Visually good looking, the story is at first intriguing, then you start exploring night city and discover that it is soulless, empty, with terrible a.i., bland npcs, and boring side missions. Grand theft auto 3 had better driving and police mechanics than this game. Pretty disappointed. I fell for the hype, and I'm mad that I trusted a game studio to deliver what they promised. Apparently they are going to fix visual bugs and promise to fix the game for consoles, but even then it will leave much to be desired.
My PC is a good margin above the reccomended specs, and I've actually only had a couple major glitches so far.
Considering the potential for the Cyberpunk property, this game is just so bland. An extremely pretty open world that's completely shallow. Imagine Fallout 3 if the only enemies you fought were the plain human wastlanders or drones and the sidequests only came from the same three people calling your cell phone immediately one after another when you walk into a new area. Most of those siequests are just going inside a building to kill the same gang members you've been killing. Over 40 hours in and the only one mission so far that gave me a CHOICE to make was so obvious that one option was "good" and the other option was "bad." The gangs are all the same; mow down every Tyger Claw in the city and then have the Tyger's gang leader text you about a used car.
The cyberware augments are a joke, you get one out of four weapon options for you arms and some variation on a double jump for you legs and that's it. Everything else makes as much diffference in gameplay as a new shirt does.
The main missions with Keanu Reeves are fun but they're clearly the ONLY thing they put real effort into, so like, why bother with the giant empty world?
This is not the game that was discussed and market the last three years. Half the features that were teased are missing or heavily cut down. It's a large adventure game, but it's certainly missing soul and life. Not sure how this could happen, but I'd recommend staying clear of it for the first year and only pick it up on sale.
Congrats to level designers — they did a great job here!
Congrats to marketers — fanstastic work on selling the game with so awful game mechanics!
Congrats to script writers — the story is pretty good!
Congrats to Rockstar — their GTA 3 (2001) that had been developed by 23 (!) team members has better game mechanics than Cyberpunk 2077 (2020).
To all the others: especially those, who has agreed to release the game: shame on you. Game mechanics are simply bad. That's not 2020 standard for AAA projects (even indie game developers does this better!). Even for 2010s it's bad.
P.S.
"The Beast in me" missions are simply pathetic.
It's very lite on RP elements, with very little of consequences, but the game world is great.
My biggest gripe is the game being unbalanced, lacking content and being full of bugs. The background introductions are extremely short and funnel you in with everyone else in a blink of an eye. Melee box fights are totally broken, enemies turn with your dodge, hit you when they are too far away, hit you when they actually miss away. The only way to beat them sensibly is get in their face spam, and parry - given you are not taking damage for a parry/dodge like my fiancée's run is.
Cops spawning in squads right behind you is another mistery, the €$ you gain through the game is not enough by far to do anything really, buying cars and cyberware prices are just way overboard. I've finished every mission, went through all endings, and I've only bought ~6 cars (the cheap ones and one expensive), and a cyberware (legendary gorilla arms and epic mantis blades). And I barely have any money left, with at least 5 million more required to buy the items.
About endings... my point of no return is broken, it doesn't load me back into the game after "sure, just one more gig" it throws me into the main menu, hence I didn't receive any items for completing all endings but i do have the achievements at least for them.
About achievements... I actually don't have 2 achievements, The Fool and the The High Priestess - both of which are story related and just hasn't triggered. Neither did The Wandering Fool.
QoL is sorely missing, mass selling, mass disassembly, mass crafting components(!!), the store UI is extremely slow to sell items one by one and wait for a UI refresh after each. When you hack something, and you auto install a daemon, you have to click on a hex address to trigger completion.
There is so much potential in the gameplay and the game world, but in it's current released state, it is terrible, and it needs a lot of patches, this should have been released as EA or delayed again
