So many bugs and lack of setting (toggle to aim???). Delamain quest is so broken to the point of no return. No matter what I cannot take his phonecalls... I tried using older save's but its pointless. Whole thread with this character is ruined for me. Thanks!
Yes, that's pretty much it.
The absolute worst offences to gaming are that the first hours are absolute rubbish in gaming and sluggish in story telling. It gets better as the world and characters expand, but the start of the game demands patience from the user. Nearly dropped the game in the first two hours because there was nothing interesting shown.
Clearly very little went in to design of the user experience of the first hours. Developers only wanting to setup the story in a very linear way in a void world of brainless npc's.
Second bad offence is the poorly designed character development since it's so easy the get unbalanced gaming experience. You all know that there is a pistol in the tutorial that later gets you doing over 10000 damage one shotting any enemy etc.
Basically you can end up with an immortal character and endless cash very easily. Inexcusable design in a game like this that has been in development for such a long time. This is also very difficult to fix without entire tech tree overhaul.
Nice try on the story, but I can't recommend because the previously mentioned issues, the lack of NPC AI, abundance of bugs and graphical glitches, awful car and motorcycle mechanics. So it's a no from me.
Went in expecting nothing, and at first it seemed like I got more than I could hope for. Unfortunately it was all smoke and mirrors. And when I say smoke and mirrors I'm not talking about the citizens of night city being cardboard cutouts, I fully expected that and was okay w/ the majority of them being set dressing. What I'm talking about is the game being an RPG. It's not. It's an action adventure game, NOT an RPG. Having played it and now going through all the info on it that I originally avoided its incredibly disappointing how many promises ended up being nothing but thin air
On Its own it's an extremely buggy alright game. A beautiful one too (when it wants to work)
But w/ all the false promises its a massive disappointment.
At this point my hope is for it to have a No Man's Sky style glowup, but w/ rumors of a class action lawsuit from their investors I doubt it'll even have the possibility of that. Best I can expect is for what bugs get fixed to get fixed...
I had a ton of data but this 2k limit forced me to chop more than half of my points, so s*ck it, GOG. You're getting the bare bones.
Summary: Might be better in a year, like No Man's Sky, but if you buy now expect a rough experience.
Pros:
* Beautiful world, even with my ancient (RTX 970) GPU
* Excellent voice-acting and character development
* Great action, and ability to choose what approach your character will use. (guns/hacking/melee/etc)
* Decent level of tactics to choose from, based upon weapon type alone (eg: power[wall-punch] vs smart[seeking])
* Really big map
* Good method of fast travel
* Two of the endings really got to me - had me silently tearing up, even.
Cons:
* Borderlands-esque weapons/armor - you collect and sell tons of crap (for WAY more than you get paid for sidequests, sometimes) to find the occasional high-end piece.
* Can't pick up the item right in front of your pointer - gotta pick up crap all around you first, before you can.
> Also applies to weapon pickups - gotta loot bodies and still spam 'F' until you get their weapon.
* Sometimes ho-hum of Keanu's voice-acting when it should be more intense.
* The one collectible (Zodiac) can never be completed past 10 of 12, as it's erratically tied into the endings.
* When driving, mini-map doesn't zoom out, making turns harder to spot 'cause you're watching traffic, not the mini-map
* Crafting is broken:
> Costs 1/3 of my endgame-hoarded rare consumeables to craft a single Epic weapon/clothing that sucks
> Quickhack (ie: "hacking viruses") recipes disappear from crafting menu after crafting, and can't regain them (??)
> Better free recipes takes way, way high Crafting levels - I built a lot of consumables, never got past level ~7, of 20
* Cyberdeck inventory sucks:
> Can never uninstall old quickhacks, just overwrite them
> Buy a new deck, gotta re-acquire quickhacks
* On rare occasions, can't hack - gotta exit scanning mode, move around, then try again. Very bad, in close combat.
I was a huge fan of the studio for 13+ years and I really didn't want to bring this up, but the GOG/CDPR actions and attitude left me no choice.
The game is raw, unpolished, bugged as hell. The more I play — the more broken quests and technical issues I get. I was sending reports and suggestions since release, but I've got zero replies. Not even automatic ones. After day-one patch only two hotfixes were released (did fix nothing for me).
GOG/CDPR stuff ignoring all problems, and this isn't the only shitstorm they prefer not to see. Recently they decided to cancel the release of Devotion ignoring thousands of customers. They've butchered the game without reasons (the placeholder with the joke was removed years ago). Check the community wishlist — it is the most requested game now. GOG/CDPR changed their policy from being pro-customer to being pro-money. But censorship can't be tolerated, especially political — I'm sick of it in real life.
I tend to buy more games than I play. I used to buy games on GOG only to support it's policy and my favourite devs. This isn't the thing anymore. I haven't played 99% of these games, so, I've tried to request a refund. And GOG support finally answered to my ticket. They've completely ignored questions about Devotion. They've refused to refund anything from 350+ games. They've refused to comment on the release of Cyberpunk patches. Finally, they they told me to refund my physical copy of C2077 where I've bought it, but it isn't possible after I've activated it.
I've supported and advertised GOG. I've bought all CDPR games, collector's editions, tons of merch etc. I missed the moment they turned into EA/Activision siblings, but history shows — it's the one-way road.
It was the last game I've bought here. In the current state I can't recommend it to anyone, nor can I recommend this platform. I'm disgusted by GOG/CDPR recent actions and new priorities, disappointed by the way they handled those situations and I regret supporting them.
