Why buy on GOG.COM?
DRM FREE. No activation or online connection required to play.
Other games run 30+ FPS in 4K resolution with almost the highest graphics settings on my machine.
This game is barely playable on 720p Low setting. I don't understand why CD Projekt decided to release this game in such a poor state and destroy their good name with it.
I'll give it another try in half a year maybe. Hopefully the game will be playable by then.
As the title says, the game feels unfinished / unpolished in every aspect.
This game needed 12-18 months morwe in the oven. CDPR overhyped the game and pushed it out early for the christmas sales.
The hype they created and the preorders they pushed put them in a corner, which offered no good way out.
My gripes with the game:
It is the most unstable PC release I have ever played (as of patch 1.06). Still constant graphical / sound glitches all over the place. I have not had a full game release crash on me this often.
- The main story seems to end very abruptly
It somewhat feel like there have been significant cuts to the main story, hours of content missing.
The "road" to the finish line is done well, but the end feels like a bridge, that leads nowhere. Like a car going over a cliff, where a bidge should have been.
- some loger side quests seem also unfinished. Build up to something big, end with just a phone call.
- The game world is a great framework, but feels empty / dead
There are a lot of NPCs going around, but all of them seem like window dressing. Hard to put into words. The NPCs in Witcher 3 for example gave the world a feel of being populated / lived in, while in Cyberpunk they are there. Little to no world building apart from quests. Lots of text / shards with lore. The open world just seem to be there for the sake of it. huge but empty.
- certain skills are just plain broken
Crafting & Trading are easy exploits for the game. Although it kind of fits with the games theme. Find a weakness in the system and exploit it. :D
- combat is servicable at best
It feels like theay tried to be Deus Ex HR / MD, but Deus Ex did a better job.
But it´s not all bad:
I like the characters & delevopment of them. (English) Dub seems good to me.
The storys that are told are mostly entertaining / compelling.
Buy this game a few months after release and maybe the DLCs, if there are any.
Right now it is a 60€ early access title and not worth it.
A lot of people already covered the main points that the game should be critisized for, so I will be brief.
The story is short, the decisions mean little (especially considering that we were promised three unique lifepaths that would INFLUENCE the story, instead we got three different prologues and a few extra dialogue options depending on the lifepath, and that's it). The bugs are not my main gripe, they can be fixed, but that doesn't mean that such a large amount of them should be excused. Everything feels like an early access version of the game we were supposed to receive.
However, I trully hope that you'll be able to deliver something exceptional with the DLC's you're preparing, I hope that you'll flesh out the story and give it more depth, and I'm hoping for a LOOONG dlc, something like Blood and Wine in Witcher 3.
You still have a chance to redeem yourself, albeit not with complete dismissal by the community of the many problems that have plagued the game since its release.
Cheers.
First off I feel I need to inform potential buyers that Cyberpunk 2077 is NOT an RPG. I repeat, this game is not an RPG, but rather it is a scripted open-world action game with a sprinkling of RPG elements. So, it you're looking for a deep roleplaying experience with consequence for choices in dialogue and actions, then you should definitely look elsewhere.
The graphics are nowhere near as good as what was shown off over 2 years ago, and I'm running this buggy mess on a $4k alienware gaming rig purchased in November -_-
NPC and enemy AI is virtually non-existent, and the world of Night City (or Night Sh!tty as I call it) feels lifeless and boring.
Character customization is completely nonexistent, and there are no cosmetic alterations to speak of concerning your gear and weaponry. Neither can you customize your vehicles or the single sh!tty appartment you start with.
There is only ONE romance option per sexual orientation and gender, and most of the characters you meet are completely devoid of personality and likeability.
As a huge fan of the REAL Cyberpunk as conceived by the great Mike Pondsmith, I feel completely let down by the utter lack of meaningful content and how every plot thread feels like it is railroading you into a specific path. In short, there is no real choice or consequence.
Driving is completely broken and buggy mess, leaving me to prefer walking and fast travel to driving.
The soundtrack, or rather lack of a soundtrack, is unacceptable. Has no one at CDPR ever heard of Synthwave/Retrowave? I DO NOT want to listen to sh!tty "punk" and RAP in a Cyberpunk world!!!! Give me synthesizers and 80's style guitar solos!!! -_-
Another problem I have is the setting. It's called Night City, and yet CDPR felt the need to brighten everything up with sunshine and palm trees. What part of NIGHT in Night City escaped you idiots? The entire game shouldve taken place at night, with only a few exceptions.
In short, there is no immersion -_- Don't buy!
This game is fun and the world is massive and immserive.
But this game needs a lot fo work and i mean a lot. Cause it doesn't feel like a RPG, cause no matter what ending you choose it's all the same. Killing your self, letting johnny take over or just waiting it out. Plus most the characters are forgettable once the missions are done with. The hype came cause of the Witcher 3 game, which dissapoints me.
