Cyberpunk 2077

The ideas behind the game - awesome. The game - mediocre. The bugs - epic (still being able to snipe-kill with headshots behind walls or anything really, long live the Ping!). Loved how the vehicles landed from thin air & etc. The story - meh. The music - great but so what, that ain't Spotify. Engine - tragic. Probably that's the worst after the overall gameplay - the engine. No idea how you manage to screw this up - but done well done - items that cannot be taken, falling down from 1 meter and dying (nice!!!) & etc. Side jobs - no heart. Main story line - almost no heart. Creativity level - from 1 to 10, I'd say it is lousy 4. And that given all the books and movies and fantasy there's out there. This is the first and last time I preorder something from CD Projekt Medicore. Trust is broken, you screwed. Happy you have made some $ from this but you know - success is a temporary b1tch. Sharing few tears for all the QAs that you may (or may not) have who (if they were in their right mind) were screaming - THIS IS NOT READY FOR RELEASE. Question is - are you a game studio or a pathetic Hollywood one?

DISCLAIMER: I've had the ending explained to me, I have not reached the ending in my 42 hours as I'm trying to fully experience the game. All side missions, all gigs, exploring the city, doing the random crimes, etc. Plenty of people have talked about most of the issues with this game, like bugs and glitches, so i'll leave them out of this review. My main problems are the levels tied to equipment, the empty world, and the story. From what I have experienced from the game and had explained to me, the weakest part of the story involves Johnny Silverhand. It feels like he wanted to come in as the main attraction and they had to redo the story to fit him in, and it suffers so much if that is true. A bland character with bland missions. The police detective, Judy, Panam, their stories are the best ones in the game and honestly make me want to play them when i see them pop up with another mission. The main story and any story involving Silverhand feels like i'm being forced to follow this cause they had to have an over arching plot for their game. Even the side quests with random characters are more enthralling and fun to play and stress over choices then anything in the main story. And as others have said, the life paths are useless additions, they don't change your character, just what you have an option to say, no actual changes to your character's demeanor or attitude. Levels are attached to items and they are kind of just there. It is really stupid to specialize into lmgs and shotguns, and have random pistols and rifles you pick up be higher damage. And a lot of the perks for the level system are just there pad out the perk tree. I also hate the fact that you can't even explore the city as you want, certain zones have certain levels. I explored the starting area after a few missions and all the enemies were low risk, dying to one shot of my weapons which honestly was the most fun i've had in the game. Honestly, I'd just say wait till the sequel.

When they fix the bugs, it will be an average game. It's too linear and you're a jack of all trades from the beginning regardless of how you build your character. I actually can't remember making a single difficult or interesting decision. Even in gameplay there is a right outcome and a wrong outcome and that's it. To call the AI basic would be too much credit. The missions have "multiple paths", meaning just circle behind or go on top of each building and open the tech/body door to trivialize the entire level. I could go on, just read the other reviews. I don't feel like I had crazy expectations but I still felt disappointed here. I played better RPG's 10 years ago.

Cyberpunk is a great setting and has so much going for it with its lore, fashion, attitudes and style but yet this game does nothing to make you really feel like you are in a Cyberpunk world. The world itself is basically just a bustlying city that could be mistaken for any city of today and nothing about it feels like a future city of the year 2077, hell the futurism of Cyberpunk 2020 was more detailed than this game. I wanted to like this game so much but the game itself is just bare bones, dumbed down and generic as anything. Its the simple matter of go to location and stealth it up or shoot everything before being stuck in conversations with only 2 options if you are lucky and of course nothing you say matter and with barely 2 options you don't even have a chance to even role play a character. I shit you not Fallout 4 has more role play potential with its 4 yes answers than this game. Got to the last chapter and just could not bring myself to pick the game back up after taking a break from all the bugs and crashes and everything else that was meant to be fixed with all those delays and look at what we got. If you are desperate for a game to play for about 20 hours (main story) then pick this game up I guess or you could wait a few years until they patch up this game into maybe some playable but that doesn't change the fact that the game is not fun. Have fun with the pay to win DLC multiplayer that is coming out and was so important that they had to waste resources on it.

The graphics and the aesthetics are what hold that game together. But, as it is now, it is broken, it is not a RPG, it is not an open-world, it has no AI to make the combats interesting, and the most of the content is missing. Also, the promises made during the last years about a next gen game are lies, this game being worse than a GTA San Andreas. Avoid at all cost unless greatly patched...
