This is the most dissapointing game for me. CDProject intentionally lied, tried to hide the state of the game. I see a lot of traces of a great game, but so much was cut, and it feels so incomplete.
Shame.. I feel for the devs, they are not to blame, and their passion is showing in a lot of the assets.
Audio:
- mastering is all over the place: sound effects are blasting at high volume, letting you think that something is happening right next to you - but it is actually taking place 15 meters or more away.
- Same for ever-repeating unimportant NPC one-liners or NPCs which were given more lively interactions with their surroundings
Graphics:
- still wondering what's next-gen about it
- game depends heavily on DSSL. Environment and details have a 'washed-out' / blurry look.
- game only runs smooth in 1440p when using DSSL. On a 3090 nvidia graphics card. Yes. Seriously.
Gameplay:
- feels broken
- rough looking animations (with the exception of a few key characters)
- you will spend a lot of your time in menus. This may be acceptable for accessing my inventory. But this also goes for bars, vendors, ripperdocs... know what would've been cool? Interactions within the game-world that the game wants the player to be invested in - but that is never happening for what you will be doing in 90% of your ingame time!
Final words:
The problem with Cyberpunk 2077 is that it's not only the bugs which keep you from getting invested into the world of the game. It's how the game is presented to the player. It's what is happening around you and how it's happening. And the game telling you: 'Yeah sure, you can do that... but that's not what we intended. That's not how you should play the game.' - most obvious example for this are the cops which will simply spawn right next to a very short moment after you commited a game in the game.
The game relies on the illusion of choice. Many games that came before CP2077 were able to deliver content that reflected on your choices in your playthrough.
This is a game which heavily relies on immersion and - sadly - completely falls on its face trying to deliver just that. A problem that is beyond 'fixing the bugs'. You have to re-design the game in its core.
Not something to blame the developers for, though. The leading positions are at fault.
Every part of this game feels unfinished, bugs, glitches, broken animation, cars falling from the sky, broken ai, missing features, texture pop-in, bad ui, useless mini map, broken quests, unstable framerate and the list goes on and on, even on my new high end computer with a rtx 3080 did the game run poorly. Last time I was this disappointed in a game was Mass Effect Andromeda, at least the writing, voice acting and animation (when they work) are all great in Cyberpunk and there is a good game hidden somewhere in this whole mess.
It's good that Cd Projekt Red is committed to fixing the game but I have already finished it and played every ending, there is no reason for me to come back, I already had my first impression and that is most likely how I will always remember the game.
I really wanted to love this game, but unlike a lot of other fans this was nothing but a sad experience for me and I am not okay with paying full price for an alpha version, last time I will buy a full priced game from Cd Projekt Red .
I put almost 150 hours into this game, and enjoyed it. But, WTF CDPR. It's glaring just how broken, and unfinished this game is. The more time in spent in Night City the more empty, and hollow it, and I felt. A sorely depressed version of itself.
From the cut content, to the AI, to the god-aweful inventory, and driving systems. It all l just left me feeling sad for what was supposed to be. So sad.

All that being said. Night City is absolutely gorgeous, and well built, and a blast to explore. 3 Stars.
