From the character T-posing on top of moving cars to bodies exploding constantly during cut-scenes they all break the immersion that CDPR were going for in this game. It could have been great but I'm giving up hope
The story is good, not great but also not bad. The combat is fun and the hacking is enjoyable. If you stay on the story path then it's a good game but stray from that and it loses much of it's appeal. The side quests are blocked by phone calls which is kind of annoying at times.
There are lots of bugs. I played it with the recommened specs so I never experienced any major ones but the number of minor bugs is annoying.
The biggest issue is the absence of features that were obviously meant to be in the game but removed due to the rush to release. It makes it worse when you get imersive animations during the main missions but then can't get those same actions outside of the main scripted lines (like hot wiring a door using your tech skills).
Overall, I'd recommend staying away for a couple years. Let CDPR fix the game and add expansions as well as the mod community to add the missing features.
no rebindable controls
controls are clunky and unresponsive (due to multi-action binds)
no police AI
no vehicle AI
no pedestrian AI
cone of view triggered despawns of vehicles, citizens, etc. instead of a normal radial one
numerous clipping issues
poor overall engine optimization
desynchronized visual and audio queues (pedestrian crossings, commercials, etc)
the setting and the developer's vision of night city is grandiose and one of the best in any game. it's also the only thing holding it afloat.
played it for over 200 hours and my lasting impression is still "seriously, eff your game, man. it's disgraceful."
While the Visuals are great, to a point, the story's climax falls flat toward the end.
The ending was VERY obviously rushed, not to mention the game's development.
The modding community seems more apt in saving the game than CDPR itself seems. Sure CDPR is working on dev stuff, but the community is pushing what it can in making the game more playable and more enjoyable.
The Controls are odd and again the modding community saved the day with helping to rebind the unbindable keys.
Some trailer cinematics made to look like they're in the game are not, or at least not as they appear to.
Driving within the game is VERY badly done and unrealistic.
I will leave off more of the criticisms as they will risk spoiling some of the games better aspects, but most decisions barely have ANY significance to the story.
With all that aside, I did enjoy much of the game and only had to restart once due to a game breaking bug. Which I did recognize as a skeletal node bug from experiencing the same in other games.
+ great game-engine
+ mostly very good graphics (except some occasional extremely poor textures)
- bugs, bugs, bugs
- missing features
- far from being finished
- horrible AI
- early access game
