AAA price but not a AAA game

Game in it's current state is not worth the money. The vibrant world they advertised is flat and uninteresting, AI for enemies and pedestrians is almost nonexistent. It is still advertised as an "RPG" on the store page but the dialogue options are lacking and most of your choices dont really matter. The world design is amazing, but there's nothing to do in it. Street vendors, most of which you cant interact with. NPC's that will replay the same conversation over and over, never moving from their spot. CDPR promised the world and then slowly removed feature after feature once the preorders rolled in. The game is functional (on a decent PC) and has a satisfying gameplay loop. The parts that are cinematic are well voiced and animated. The world design is top notch and there are many places you can climb up and walk around in. It fits the setting very well. The guns and armour/clothes are also very pretty and interesting to look at. If it were not for the ridiculous advertising campaign that CDPR used to generate hype for preorders, I wouldn't rate the game so harshly. But this game is nowhere near what was advertised. Unfortunately this sort of behaviour has become the industry standard as of late. CDPR advertised to consumers a vibrant, living world and quests that change according to your lifepath and actions. But the reality falls short. The story is interesting, but not as interesting or fleshed out as a true RPG. The gunplay is fun, but not as well developed as an FPS. The driving is functional, but nowhere near the depth that a game like GTA has. The character design is interesting, but you almost never see yoursel;f so it doesnt matter that much. To me, Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that tried to be several other games at once but ended up falling short of all of them. Coupled with the dodgy advertising and abysmal PS4/XboxOne reception, it serves as being more of a "eh" that will be fun to play, but won't be memorable.

Just horrible.

All bad news and bugs aside. This game is simply not enjoyable. - Horrid AI, vehicle physics, and combat -- worse than some PS1 games even. - Boring story full of cliches and unecessary crassness. - Nothing innovative with the game at all. Performance isn't an issue for me, as I'm playing on 9900K @5ghz w/ RTX3090. Worst experience in the game far was the death of a major character, who is then immediately afterwards shown clipping halfway through the car they died in like one of those flailing-arm-inflatable-tube-man-fans. Completely ruined what was clearly supposed to be a emotional scene. Uninstalled immediately after that. Maybe I'll try it again in 5 years after modders have had time to right the many wrongs from the now joke of a game company. I have ZERO confidence CD Projekt Red will do much to improve the game aside from fixing some of the most glaring bugs. They'd basically have to remake the enitre game to fix all the fundamental issues it has. They already made back all their money, so the chances of them spending any real resources to IMPROVE the game are slim to none.

Not the Game which was advertised

What I expected was deep, mature RPG with many meaningful decisions and a rich open world in the Cyberpunk universe. These things were advertised in countless interviews and videos in the past two years. But what you get, when you buy this game, is a railroaded cheap shooter, with many cutscenes and a short main story. After you leave the scripted missions, there is nothing to do, besides hundreds of grindy kill missions. What you do or not do has no meaning or consequence, there is simply no RPG gameplay or content. The "skilling" and "leveling" system is a joke, the character "editor" is a joke. So, many of the characters and cutscenes are good (thanks to Keanu Reeves), but the main story is clearly cutted too and way too short (if you watched the previews you know more than the half of it). You cannot compare this game to Witcher 3, which is way better in all things. After all these years of waiting and after all these promotions I feel cheated and betrayed by CDPR. It is a shame, but this Studio goes down the road like EA, Bioware etc.. On top of all these things, this skeleton of a game has many bugs. I often had to reload a mission, because a scripted trigger was not working and there are countless graphic glitches. All in all Cyberpunk 2077 reminds me at Mass Effect: Andromeda and Fallout76. This was my last Euro this company got from me..

1.12 still bad

I don't know why it was postponed several times just to be released in this state... The good things: - Story. - Characters. - Some side quests. - Fast loading times. The bad things: pretty much everything else - Some side quests are ending abruptly, leaving feeling they were half cut. - Gigs and world activities are pretty much all the same and boring (go there, kill them, done). - Bugs and graphical glitches are everywhere (still in 1.12). - About 1/4 of perks and items don't work at all or work not as described. - An underwater perk?!!! Seriously CDPR?! When you cut something at least do it properly. - Driving feels awful, especially with motorcycles, don't devs have cars? May be pay them more CDPR? - AI: don't exist. Neither pedestrians nor cars can't go around a tiny obstacle. - Combat AI: don't exist. You can shoot 10 enemies through a wall and none of them will move his ass. They are just standing there watching their allies die, some getting shot but not killed and they're just waiting for second hit. - Police AI: I really can't understand how crime could exist in Night City when police is just teleporting to criminals and shooting them on sight? But at least it explains why there are no police chases. Who needs a car if he got a teleport? But seriously this is just unbelievable. Have devs never seen GTA, Mafia, Saints Row, etc? - Inventory hell: check. - Crafting: don't make me start on this. I almost broke a finger half way through. And at least fix craft/disassemble ratios. Personally i don't mind increasing components amount trough craft/disassemble same things, but the process is too long could you make an interface where we could just type in amount needed and it pops in our inventory? - One more not really a bad thing but still bothers me. Why do we need genital customization option if it isn't in game? Worst part is: this game had potential... Next time don't release pre-alpha, at least push it to beta...

Graphics and hype, that's about it.

This is such a sad game. In it's current 1.31 patch I'd be less frustrated if it were an Early Access game, but it isn't. It's a massive failure that got pulled from stores for being a hot turd. All it's gotten since is a Mythbusters style polish job. It's a bit more spherical, and has a high gloss shine. Doesn't change that when they squeezed it out for the sale rush it was still a smelly pile of barely workable code. The voice Acting was GREAT! The graphics are good, but the sweet little nuggets this game has are still buried in a giant turd. Every try to take cover by the FRONT of a parked car? Give it a try. It's a hoot. You may break something you own though if you try it during a fire fight and end up stun locked by a parked vehicle knocking you down, damaging you and honking that annoying, wimpy elecrtic beep every time you get run over by a car that isn't moving. This game is bland. It has ZERO depth. The small details in most every other open world action game I've played (like the GTA or Saints Row games) like customization of your vehicles, player pads that you can do stuff in, getting a hair cut, seeing my character in a mirror...seriously...an AI for the NPCs that isn't placeholder, you get the idea by now folks. They rode on the Witcher wave for this. And it shows. I can't recommend buying it as it is. It's just a pile of bones under a cover of glistening fat. Buy it when they cycle it on a sale, and don't pay more than half for it. It's still not worth a full price with what it offers. And as with many other game studios, this should discourage people from pre-ordering. Wait until they release it, see if it's a trashfire like this was first. Save your money for a company that is worth it. Remember that dwarf at Crows Perch? His armor was a higher quality than this game.
