Do not buy, its not what was promised.

Its buggy, glitchy, doesnt run well, crashes. They lied about the game's feature that they showed in Nigh City Wires. The cops and other AI are pretty much broken. There is no Driver AI. Cops spawn right behind you and if you hide around a corner they vanish in 20sec (not even attempting to find you or chase after you) The world is not interactive other than "Go over there and kill those people" missions The 3 lifepaths do not matter. The in-game economy is broken There is no water physics or water animations There is no jumping out of car animations Your choices do not matter since there is hardly any conseqence to them. other than the last choice which give you the ending. NPC's literally vanish into the void if you turn around, they also randomly change their genders and looks. There is no living breathing city where every decision matters, that was a lie. A whole game is a lie. The only good thing about this game is graphics. The story feels rushed and too much focused on Johnny Silverhand, the role playing character of V is just a vassal of Keanu Reeves who seems to be the main protagonist. At the time of writing this review I have been waiting 6 days for a refund from GOG. I already refunded the game on my Ps4 since on that platform it was impossible to play.

Mediocre game

Preface: I'm going to ignore the bugs and performance issues because that horse was beaten to death. Gameplay is a disappointment. And I had low expectations because I knew that it's going to be a narrative-first game. But I was still disappointed. World is a disappointment. Huge but empty / dead city. NPCs are annoying as all hell. Driving / shooting is an actual embarrassment. Take borderlands and remove all the fun = this game's shooting experience. Driving is as bad as you'd expect coming from a studio that has never done a driving game before. Why they thought they should try it I have no clue. Story & voice acting are both weaker than I expected. V is boring / unlikable. Keanu, bless his soul, is a flat actor and while he does have some funny quips every now and then, his performance isn't that great. The story is weaker than what we've come to expect from CDPR in the narrative department. The one amazing thing this game has is (facial) animations for named, important NPCs. Talking to some of these characters while on high+ settings is an absolute delight - they are ultra realistic.

Solid game but buggy

This was supposed to be CDPRs "Crowning Achievement". That is how they put it after the original delay of the game. What we instead have gotten is a significantly watered down version of the game that is extremely buggy and with some major problems, such as save files getting corrupted after reaching a certain size which for a game of this size and scope and with it's crafting mechanics bloating the save file further by just using ingame mechanics that the game encourages you to use, inching you closer to that save file corruption. I keep running into bugs all the time such as randomly dying while running, jumping and climbing. During a mission my character spawned over and over into the drivers seat that was already occupied by another character. Loot not being able to be looted, strange/bad AI behaviour, certain side quests not being able to be completed, missing textures and being able to walk through walls including the AI. I could go on and on and on about the various bugs I have encountered so far and continue to encounter. All these problems are constantly just taking me out of the experience that is Cyberpunk, a game that at it's core is a very solid game with some good writing, incredibly detailed city to explore with some nice character design. This is one of the few cities in a game where I actually feel like I am in a real, lived in city if that makes sense. I have no doubt that in a year from now the game will have improved dramatically but you only get 1 first playthrough and sadly this is my experience. To sum it up, CD Project Red has not delivered on what they promised, not even close.

Doesn't live up to the hype

There was so much hype around this game that that was bound to be some disappointment. That being said, there is a lot to be disappointed about. This was supposed to be a bold, immersive cyberpunk RPG. A playground for your custom tailored character with lots impactful choices and replay-ability. What we got was what you'd expect if you'd ask Paul Verhoeven to do an installment of Grand Theft Auto. Don't get me wrong, in that respect it's enjoyable enough. I played the game through for what it was, and had an okay time with it. But it really doesn't fulfill the expectations I had of it. So what's wrong with this game? Well, for one, I don't think it has any meaningful choices or replay-ability at all. This due to the fact that you don't actually have any choices in this game at all. You're just railroaded through the story, and the only choice you have is who you ask to help you when it's time for the finale. The story itself is actually quite enjoyable, but it's not worth going through a second time. Then there's the cyberpunk world itself. It can be pretty and awe inspiring in how large it is, I'll give it that, but it also feels empty and artificial; filled with NPC's that you can barely interact with, walking and driving around aimlessly with no sense of purpose. This whole aspect could have received a lot more love. Then there's the gameplay. I mean, it's passable; I enjoy GTA as much as the next man. But it's not what I expected from a Cyberpunk RPG. With some love from the devs hopefully the bugs in the game will be squashed and maybe they'll even be able to blow some life into the streets as well. When they do, I do think it will be worth picking up then (preferably with a bit of a price drop). The story itself is worth visiting. It has some real moments and it's worth the experience. But if you buy this game sold on the hype, you're going to be in for a disappointment.

"Released when it's ready"

Oh god, it's so heartbreaking to post a negative review but the game really ruined my mood. It truly feels like a betrayal from the executives and the CEO of my favourite company. They said the game was completely ready before the first delay and just needed time to polish and ensure its best quality at launch. Even the slogan, " Released when it's ready", and all promises from the game marketing boosted the hype at launch. And it is even more painful knowing that the game is a masterpiece in terms of story and world design (it's still a game from CDPR) but oh man, the technical side of the game is truly broken at this point, just constantly breaking the immersion. I specifically tried to distance from the reviews and wait a few weeks but even with the 1.05 hotfix, the number of bugs, dumb AI, popping out of nowhere people and vehicles is just too much. I experienced my weapon not dealing any damage during the main story mission, car stuck in the gates and textures, weird animations and UI glitches and a lot of smaller bugs and omissions (toggle walk and pace of the car, interactions with the objects, weird police implementation...) I really want to finish the game, especially for its great story and meticulously crafted world, but i.m.h.o it's a shame to experience it in this way. I won't refund the game and will wait for the patches but CDPR's management just ruined the reputation and trust of the whole company, though I don't blame the devs and I believe they will fix all technical issues making the game a true masterpiece just like the Witcher 3. Upd: though I didn't encounter performance issues (mobile rtx2070), such release with all those bugs and cut content is absolutely unacceptable even on PC! TL;DR: The core of the game, its story and world is really something special and breathtaking but all the glitches and bugs just ruin the experience to the point where it's best to wait ~1-3 months before the technical side is hopefully fixed.
