It's 2024, the game has been out for 4 years. And while they've done a lot to improve it, which is commendable, it's still got some fundemental problems.
Even after multiple patches calling out keybindings, and as of patch 2.12, you still cannot bind all keys...
This blows my mind, this was a solved issue in the games of the early 2000s.
In short, Cyberpunk 2077 went from a 4/5 game to a 2/5 game
The game has received some changes with the 2.0 update and DLC, which unfortunately greatly disrupt the fun of the game, which is a shame because I really enjoy playing cyberpunk. On the one hand, there are no more grenades
and Maxdocs to buy, which means you only have 2 of both and have to wait for a new time, estimated at around 40 seconds, which can make the game very difficult in some situations and thus turns the fun you should have with the game into work please patch it back to the old system so it's a lot less fun now.
A change that I don't like either, but it's not that bad, is the change to the NCPD's siren, which now sounds like a container ship signal that's about to break.
Let’s be real: this game isn’t about freedom of choice. You can sneak, hack, or go in guns blazing — but the world barely reacts. Whether you're playing a total pacifist or a one-person army, it changes almost nothing. 🤷♀️
There are no real faction dynamics, no way to truly align with or change the world around you. You don’t get to join a gang, build long-term trust, or shift power — which is disappointing, especially considering how older games like Dragon Age or Mass Effect already pulled that off years ago. 🐉🚀
The emotional moments hit hard only if you're already invested. The romance routes feel uneven — some characters have rich stories, others feel rushed or neglected. A lot of NPCs act like they care, but in the end, V is mostly alone. And yes, I had bugs and two full crashes, even now. 🪲💥
Despite all this? The world-building, visuals, and soundtrack are top-tier.
Night City is still one of the most atmospheric settings I’ve experienced in a while — neon, grime, beauty, and decay all in one place. 🌃💀✨
📌 TL;DR: If you love open-world immersion and dystopian melancholy, there’s a lot to admire.
But if you're craving consequence-driven storytelling and truly dynamic choices, keep your expectations in check.
Buy it on sale, enjoy the ride, and know what you’re getting into. 🛠️
Honestly, I am a little bit disappointed, I expected soo much more. The game is not able to catch me, I am bored with a quest log full of things to do, but I feel no motivation on these missions. Everything feels extremely out of place, not personal, generic.
I've read that all the magazines praise the story and the quest design like in TW3, but imho Cyberpunk does not reacch this level, its not even close to TW3 in terms of story and quest design, in my opinion.
After 6 hours nothing motivates me to continue playing, I really had very high hopes the game would catch me like TW3 did and throw me into a unforgetable story full of remarkable characters.
Mh, think I pause this game for a while and try a secound time in some weeks or months.
First scene of the game, in the garage, foliage from the outside floating in the garage.
and that concludes my review for this early access game.
Pros:
+ quite promissing for an early access game, i keep looking into the first scene after each update to
Cons:
- needs a lot of polishing (pun intented)
- basic charachter making, or the interface did not hint on anything else than the available pre-built choices (face parts etc)
- the game boldly sets everything to highest (2K resultion with ultra) and it was 15 FPS with my 3700X amd + 1070 8GB OC built, in the freaking garage!
- objects are appearing disappearing, even my cloths suddenly appeared after 10 seconds
- game has serious content streaming issue, on 32GB RAM and SSD it takes long time to load assets. eaither longer load time to pre-load assets, or optimize until last drop of last developers blood...
I think CD Projeckt management dropped the ball on this project badly. again, at best this is an early access game
