Overall not a bad game, marred by some jarring issue.
1. The controls are set up to support a controller.
2. Odd graphical glitches now and then.
3. The bloody mini map does not zoom out when you speed up.
Character customization is crazy in depth; almost to the point of absurdity. Would have like to see some of that customization carry over to my apartment.
The scope of the game is epic and sweeping and I'm enjoying the narrative very much. There are a tremendous amount of activities available to enjoy. The humor is great (the first mission for Delamain where you help him... You must not skip it).
My biggest critism is that the game suffers from it's own weight. With so many systems in play at the same time the game struggles with the little things (driving being nearly impossible in certain locations where it obviously should, looking at my character in a mirror and being bald where there should be hair and/or headwear, people/vehicle/object pop-in or being absent, for example. I could list more, but you get the point.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a Grand Show. Is it worth the price of admission? Absolutely.
Does it need more polish? Unfortunately, yes.
As buggy as the game is,(and it is buggy as hell), i am still having a blast with it, the world it self is way too interesting to me and the gameplay is also pretty good once you start leveling up. It an rpg game through and through, with great writing and characters and quests. A whole lot of funny easter eggs too. The devs clearly cared about this game and i believe they still do so im hoping for further updates and big fixes.
I dont regret my purchase for a second, and i would actually recommend it even in this state.
Good game, fun and satisfying. Great graphics, storytelling and gameplay. It is not perfect though: bugs and crash (for now) and poor AI and lacking immersive activities/interactions with the city/people (not sure this can/will be fixed...).
So let me start off by saying that in my current 18 hour playthrough I am having a good time with the game. Luckily I have a decent enough computer to run the game on the highest settings with ray-tracing enabled. I haven’t encountered too many bugs and glitches, and the game has only crashed twice. I know that is not the same for everyone, especially PS4 and Xbox One players – and some on lower-end PC rigs.
PROS:
- presentation of Night City is phenomenal - best presentation of a city in a videogame ever.
- Solid combat and RPG mechanics; gunplay a particular highlight.
- Really good story, missions and side quests with high quality voice acting and animations
- solid driving mechanics with a lot of vehicle choice.
CONS/THINGS TO IMPROVE
- lacklustre, basic and unreactive pedestrian and police AI
- more opportunities for immersion and to interact with the game world (i.e., random encounters as in GTA V and RDR 2) and RPG customisation (getting a haircut)
- Considering the amount of emphasis on player customisation (creating character, changing clothes, etc), more opportunities to see character in 3rd person perspective would be welcome.
- More character customisation options with regards to body types.
I want to stress that I am enjoying the game and am having fun getting immersed in the atmosphere of Night City while playing the main story and side missions. I can’t comment on whether choices and consequences matter in the game, because I am only at ACT 2 of the story. But I do hope, like the Witcher 3, players are presented with some opportunities to shape the narrative and effect the game world.
