Cybperpunk is Post Mod Dystopian Art

I honestly wish that CD Project had released Cybperpunk 2077 in the state it is in now - the community loved them and would have given them the extra 2 years they needed. They could have been honest with us - because if you act with integrity then the community will give you the benefit of the doubt. The fact is that the world they created is a hauntingly beautiful depiction of where our world could actually be headed. It's a living dystopian nightmare writ large for society to judge and experience. The gameplay elements are much improved since release, with better NPC response, smoother play and better optimization. I love that exploration is so heavily rewarded in this game - poke around and yea shall find - from hidden quests, to odd items, to unique clothing, weapons, armor, cars and stories. Granted I don't know that I would classify the game as an RPG entirely, because while story choices matter to some degree they are also somewhat binary, and occasionally trinary. However, it is an incredible open world experience. one I look forward to keeping on the old compy and returnign to not just for the DLC but to explore wierd areas, and hopefully figure out how to get into that nuclear power plant I found in the badlands. Can haz core meltdown? Anyway, balance in the game is a bit better, but it still needs some work. At 20 intelligence and the Tetratronic Rippler Mk4 you can chain cast Short Circuit and kill everyone within seconds. I am on very hard difficulty. I'd like to see some dynamic scaling if possible. I am giving this 5 stars because it's a ork of Art and because other reviews have been more than a little unfair. I think they feel betrayed. Anyway - I hope more people come back to this game.

my honest opinion

tldr: game is pretty good. imho, about 8-8.5/10 on the scale. at least prior to the 2.0 patch, got steady 60fps minimum on kind of dated hardware, with almost everything set to high/ultra (i turned down a couple things in the settings, crowd density and bumped shadows a notch, also not running any mods), so the game is pretty well optimized for even older systems and looks pretty great throughout. for ref: ryzen 7 2700x, rog vega 56, 32gb ram and samsung evo 970 m.2 ssd fully cleared the map of side gigs, ncpd gigs, bought all the vehicles, did all the side quests and eventually beat the game after about 100 hours, and for the price, that's about the most anyone should really hope for in terms of how much content will my money buy me. quite a bit over, in fact. just my 2 cents. am only just starting with the dlc, but as for the base game, i don't really understand what all of the complaints have been - i had a good time with it, though i didn't get as much in terms of hours logged as i did with like witcher 3, but the game was good before 2.0, for me. i would recommend it, as this game is kind of a glimpse at what *could* be in the next generations, or their kids, future. story is good. voice acting is good. kinda wish that a few of the "locked doors" and building tops/interiors around the city had some more added gameplay, something like radiant quests a la fallout 4, or something, maybe if the randoms or npcs had a few more interactions, would be nice, but overall the game itself is fully feature complete and quite playable, and replayable, even for people who aren't on the currently newest hardware.

Finally we've got, what we've paid for!

So here's the thing: I didn't like the game at all on its release back in 2020, but now in 2023, since we got the 2.0+ patch(es), and I've also gotten the DLC, I must say, it's a pretty decent game! Just as it should've been on release!

wow, just wow

I've originally played this back when it was released, now decided to give it another go to see what they did with it after Phantom Liberty released a while back. 1. Intro (before reaching main menu) is still unskippable. In 2025. 2. Settings are meh to do with a controller, sound starts at 100% which was blasting my ears on my end - comes down to personal preference, i genuinely dislike games doing that 3. you need to create an account with CD Red to freaking get access to some of the free DLCs. The option to access these is shown rather prominently in the main menu, though - even if you do not have access to it because you don't bother to create yet another account just for this. That's one way to get people to create additional accounts with you, i guess. For me, that was three stopping points even before i reached the character creation for a new game (which i originally intended to do). On top of that i was angry enough to bother finding out how to write a review on here in the first place and then actually write this stuff down. De-installed before i even created a new character. Wish i could still refund Phantom Liberty because i will not try bothering with this for a while now.
