Great game, with some issues...

The hype around the game definitely attracted an audience way too broad in its reasons of interest and expectations for the game. Obvisouly, not everyone can be pleased. The bugs, clitches and performance, however, really are bad and like many said, the game was released way too early and unfinished. Nevertheless, I am enjoying the game a lot and everytime I'm starting it up, I am blown away by the atmosphere! Pros: - Great Graphics (if you got a good rig) - Good Sounds - Great Story - Great Sidequests (sometimes better than the story itself) - Great Characters - Amazing World and Atmosphere - Good Gunplay - Good Driving Mediocre: - Stealth pretty basic - Hacking is cool, but basic - Character Customization and Development Cons: - Bugs and Clitches (sometimes immersion-breaking, for me, never game-braking) - Performance (even with a good gaming rig) could be much better - Police, Enemies and NPCs in general are pretty basic and just spawn in behind you and don't react very naturally (can be immersion-breaking and frustrating at times) - CQC way too powerful as opposed to Stealth in paticular - Controls on mouse & keyboard really are pretty bad (as often mentioned) Overall: for me (so far) an 8.5/10

First Impression/ Review (12+ Hour)

I've spent around 12+ hours in this game and been having an enjoyable time. HOWEVER, there are tons of bugs, glitches, and poor AI pathing that harshly ruin the experience. The crafting mechanic needs to be reworked it is slow and tedious. SSR has messy texture issues as well on lower settings. Please wait till February 2021 if not later for a better experience. The narrative and the world is so immersive, however, due to the bugs and other issues it deserves a shameful 7/10 for me.

I like it

No crashes in game. Only one crash on start-up. The side quests are very interesting. The combat is fun. When I play in stealth, it is stealth. Ability to hack in stealth is interesting. The crowds of people make it feel like a real city. The crowds don't interact with you other than a line saying something like get away from me, like real life if you went up to someone you didn't know on a crowded street. With armor and a gun. The many fixers in the game add something no other game I've ever played has. Some of the quests are quite disturbing and definitely adult content. Explores various religions and lack there of without promoting any of them. Giving the ability for the player to choose what kind of response to it they want. There are some bad things or things that could be improved. Graphics glitch sometimes on kills or one time during a cut scene. More variety in romance options. For a game that one can choose what sex or lack there of you are, it's strange that the romance options are so limited. Crafting stacks of items at a time would be nice, but then would make the game much much easier. Had a strange bug where about six cars fell off of a bridge onto a couple of cops. I went up to investigate and the cop that was alive aggroed on me. Which was also very funny. All in all I really like the game. I have a computer with above the recommended level of performance. Very few bugs that are so annoying that I would give it less than 5 stars. I hope they add more to the game and take player feedback into consideration.

Not an RPG

This game is not a true RPG all of the promo material would lead you to believe. It's a looter-shooter at it's core. Even backstories are just flavor text more or less, for example the Corpo backstory is more or less done in an hour and never mentioned until the very end and even then doesn't feel like an actual choice you made just more flavor text. The V character you supposed to identify with is a vechile for devs to tell the story the want to tell not the one you create through interactions. There are no real factions you can join in any meaningful way, just merc footwork. Want to join a gang or corpo? Can't do that. None of the dialogue option in the main story line actually change all that much until the very end which is more or less Mass Effect 3 or Deus Ex choose-your-ending affair. Lines you choose is not what V says which annoys me to no end. And V has this "cool" voice that he/she has which breaks the immersion for me a little. Actors did a good job but it's the direction that was used in kinda wonky. And also the plot has so many holes, like for example a NPC that was angry with you is no longer angry with after a cutscene because you told him that you didn't do something really bad. Which would be fine - but either I missed it or the game never mentions/show where or when V did say that. Sometimes V would say - oh yeah that NPC was sleazy and a bad dude. But I never had any interactions with the NPC, I just shot him. Also, none of the journal entries or whatever you collect modify or change what V says in the dialogue. You come up to an NPC and talk to him like you didn't just read his diary or whatever. Or times where I can see through the cameras what is going on but V is oblivious and only you the player acknowledge what you just saw. Gameplay wise - it really bummed me out that you can't join factions. Also the whole aesthetic of 'cool' is thrown out of the window because you always dressed like a bum. Also had minimal bugs.

This game sucks

This game just sucks. I don't care about hype, or misleading trailers or whatever, just talking about the game itself? It's bad. What makes the game bad? The world, at least for me and after the 1.3 patch released in August 2021, does NOT feel alive at all. Of course there are the repeated NPCs but the world and the characters that inhabit it simply don't feel real. Things are actually quite static, without too much dynamic stuff happening. In 2021 that's kind of crazy just how short it truly falls. Then there is the combat, which is generic AAA third person combat. I haven't played much with the hand to hand combat so maybe that's better but the shooting? Enemies feel like bullet sponges and you can tell level matters more than skill. I hate the leveling system, which is the drip feed you grind type of "increase X by 2.5%" which you have to pour points into rather than picking skills that actually impact how you are playing the game. The only thing RPG about this game is the numbers systems, which is like the absolute worst part of an RPG to rip out and shove into an open world action game like this. Because make no mistake, this is an action game, not a role playing game. Player agency seems very limited and the narrative... I don't know, early game it feels like the game is walking me through their story instead of me as my character creating the story. Maybe that's just another of saying it feels very linear. In any case this is literally one of the most disappointing games I've purchased.
