First game I have paid full price for in over a decade. I am completly satisfied with my purchase.
Will most likely pay full price for a second copy for my wife because she enjoys it aswell.
This game is what I would call a rough gem, an unpolished beauty, that is as equally gorgeous as it can be ugly. This cyberpunk themed open world RPG attempts to reach new heights of player immersion in a dystopian, futuristic city that is as fine in detail as any proper open world. From a distance and from up close you will simply find yourself fixated upon the neon lights within the concrete jungle where you wreak havoc. The story is interesting although not as complex as one would hope and even though it may often feel like you have many options, it seems that most options lead to similar consequences. Beyond the mostly visual bugs and glitches (at least in my case), many of the physics need to be reworked and upgraded in order for this to be a slam dunk in the history making game release category. I think there is much incentive for CDPR to fix the issues, keep expanding on this masterpiece in the works and when it is all said and done, we may have a that ends up better than the Wither 3 and perhaps as successful as Rockstar's GTA V. (WARNING: USER EXPIERENCE MAY VARY)
This game is definitely not for everyone.
-Graphically, majority of the game was appealing. The game definitely shines in its main quests when it comes to graphics. There are just perfect moments in the main storyline that make the game eyecandy. Personally while roaming the streets, unless it was underground area's I didn't pay much attention to the world. The character details are pretty awesome, some of them I wish had more personality in their clothing since you can see the texture in the cloth they wear.
-Audio is a hit or miss. I'm chalkin it up to bugs because I can be running in the game and all of a sudden the running sound disappears and its just quiet. There's also moments where the dialog overlaps in the game which gets slightly annoying, during my playthrough it didn't fix itself. The music in the main missions definitely set the tone for each mission. I think it's a preference on whether or not you like the music though. I found it fairly fitting. The voice acting was also fairly fine. They didn't feel stiff, the characters felt lively enough.
-Gameplay is a hit or miss for some people. Personally I enjoyed it. There was enough versatility in the gamelpay and upgrades that made me want to continue getting that aspect upgraded. I will say that crafting in this game seems essential to getting the best gear which is slightly upsetting because that means 18 points have to go into it to get the best out of it and some players might not want to do that. I did like that as you upgrade those attributes they also affect the choices you can make in dialogue. That was pretty nice to add.
Overall I'd say this game is for individuals wanting to experience a new world. The downside is whether or not the game will run. I didn't have issues with it running luckily but I did run into my fair share of bugs. Because of these bugs I've docked a star off my rating. Otherwise I did enjoy the experience I had for the most part.
Meanwhile I understand the complains, the game very buggy, but have to admit that the developers created an amazing story, and I'm felt privileged to had a chance to play with it.
I hope CDPR will not abandon this gem, and will deliver further fixes continuously.
Disclaimer: I played on PC with 1.06 patch level, experience on earlier release and on consoles could be different.
I loved my experience playing this game through. I was deeply charmed by what this game gives you to experience and I will go back for more playthroughs. I want more of what they gave me here, and what they give is definately awesome and worth your time. If bugs have you worried, wait it out, this is a benchmark game. I hope you take the time to experience for yourself. If this "sounds" like your kind of game, give it a chance, the issue will shake out. 5 Stars for Characters, Story, and Setting. 3 Stars for state of game at release, the bugs are mainly just cosmetic and funny, but they take you out of the 5 star experience. 4 Stars after 150+ hours. More hours and more stars to come
