The first 5 hours are decent enough to keep you going despite the glitches/bugs. After that, there is nothing interesting enough to distract you from all the wildly glaring issues. The world doesn't really react to your actions and when it does, it's usually in the form of busted AI trying it's hardest to make you not want to play the game.
And if this was a $20 game made by an indie studio in a year, I'd have no problem with that. But that's not the case at all.
The fact that CDPR had the audacity to lie to and mislead the consumer, openly commit fraud to shareholders and publicly admit that they indeed did those things while STILL charging FULL PRICE for this "game", just goes to show that they deserve every bit of criticism and negative PR they get and the financial destruction that comes with it.
If this is the last game they ever make, it won't be a shame.
Extremely buggy. I have a wierd glitch where Johnny randomly spouts off "The house must be really raking it in." on loading from a save. The glitch has survived a clean reinstall and a new save file and it drives me batty.
There are many times where the game shines, especially during a few of the missions. But ultimately the enjoyment comes to a crashing halt when you encounter bugs that hinder progress or randomly kill you.
This game is gonna take at least another year, at the very least, to fix. If it will even be fixed at all. There is so much broken, and bugs that I encountered on my first playthrough two months ago still persist. I'd not be surprised if this game gets a relaunch as a definitive edition in two years, with pre-existing owners getting a free upgrade or something.
Avoid the corpo start, because it is the most dissapointing one that will crush your excitement for an extra heist dead in its tracks.
Positives: Story, soundtrack and character development, gun combat. That's it.
Negatives: Ignoring the bugfest this game is let me tell you even if it was polished like Red Dead Redemption 2, this game will still be a 2/5 for me, this is how badly dissapointed I am. The game feels like it had a lot of ideas that were ultimately cut because ironically the corpos at CDPR decided that the game had to lunch in 2020, it was clearly not finished, not even close to being finished, it needed 1 or 2 more years, but greed infected CDPR, the lies, the review process is something that not even the worst gaming companies have done, not even EA or Activision have gone as far as to hide the performance of their games, trick players into buying it and then saying "this did not show up on our internal testing".
-The game lacks RPG elements, there is no role playing in this, the "lifepaths" are a joke, they influence the first 15 minutes of your game and other than some additional dialogue options they serve no purpose to the game.
-The world is big, is flashy, is kinda beautiful but is absolutely dead, there is nothing to do in it, other than repetitive fetch quests and boring gigs, no bars, 4 prostitutes and thats it, you can walk and enjoy the view but ultimately there is nothing to do in it.
-The AI is probably the worst offender, NPCs are dumb, the police system is non existent, the wanted system is an afterthought and they were so lazy they made the cops simply spawn behind you, no matter where you are, pathetic!.
-Melee combat is just horrible
-Cars look good but the driving in this game is also pretty bad.
-Body modifications are non existant, you cant even change your haircut.
-Augmentations feel like boring passives.
-Weapons lack depth.
-Crafting system is pathetic, no bulk dismantle option.
-The skill three is boring, full of super simple passives that have no impact.
This is the most dissapointing game ever. This was supposed to be a 3/5 but 2/5 for your lies.
Long story short: For me Cyberpunk is the biggest disappointment of the year and that in every aspect of the game. The open world, the characters, the story, the controls...everything is ok at max. And after games like The Witcher 3 or GTA V is ok not enough.
A comple disaster. It doesn't matter how this gets patched, Without entering in discussions about how this game got released like this, it will never be what it was promised to be.
- AI easily comparable to games from 20 years ago or just non-existing. People spawn in a place and that's it. No cop chasing you, just a trail of them spawning upon you.
- Gunplay clunky af. You will try not to get into gunfights. Not because of roleplay reasons, but because if you have to engage people you will suffer its combat mechanics. It doesn't matter if you have good fps
- Gun tier/inventory simple and boring. No innovations in this regard
- Inconsistent dialogs where it doesn't matter what you do. Your choices don't really matter and everything always ends up in the same way regardless
I understand some people might like this game because of what it might have been but cannot be judged on that. One has to be delusional to think this game is up to the price asked, company ethics expected, and 2020 game standards
