After 200 hours completing the main story, every side job, police gig, etc. I can honestly say that the game is a lot of fun. I truly enjoyed my experience with it and am about to start a new playthrough. It has great storytelling and compelling characters that you care about. While the game is not perfect, it has nowhere near the problems I have been reading about and seeing posted online. It never crashed for me and any bugs/glitches didn't impact my gameplay. I played on a five-year old gaming system with a 980 GTX and had no real issues. I'm eagerly anticipating the DLCs and additional content to be released, as I can't wait to get back to Night City.
Just finished the game. Couple of thoughts. The game turned out to be pretty solid in stroyline and narrative. Main story and side quests are really well done. If the plot is essential for you feel free to give the game a chance. There are lots of games that didn't give me even a half of a Cyberpunk strory experience. So far there are plethora of bugs, but I, personally, don't care as long as the story is interesting. What I didn't like is the game world itself, I mean technical implementation, engine, AI. I didn't believe in what was going on around me, it doesn't feel like an alive world. That was a bit frustrating, because the world in Witcher 3 is much more believable and I had expected something even better in Cyberpunk. I had impression that there are lots of junior developers in the dev team who hadn't had much experience, which is again a bit weird, cause I doubt it. Might be the technologies stack that devs have chosen was not ideal for the game, might be something else... Regarding perfomance, I played via a cloud game service, since my 10-years rig can't handle such a game, so there was no problems. The game is relatively short, it took me 60 hourse to finish all quests and clear all points of interest on the map. I didn't use lots of skill points since there is no much need in them and didn't reach 20th level (particularly in crafting). It was imposible for me without abusing some unbalanced mechanics. So, there are lots of thing to correct... All in all the game is anyway worth buying. Lookin foward to playing it again in a year time when most bugs will be polished, the game in general balanced and new dls added.
so all reviews are like "oooohhh i cant change controls" or "game has bugs on release day, i will give game 5/10 because of that" i dont even count comparison with GTA V which has now several years and countless patches behind. and i get it, no-one likes to have bugs, i found 3 and reported them. but. bugs will be ironed, invalid mechanic will be changed (remember witcher?) but gameplay and story will stay.
and gameplay and story are great. i have over 200h in game, finished it yesterday. and i had fun that i didnt have for years, it was AWESOME. im not funboy and i didnt have skyhigh rate hype and that helps to enjoy game.
i could list countless pros, because i didnt find to many cons on PC, but i already reached limit of characters in review, so i had to change it :P
so i will write this: game is amazing, and just play it, without any hype, cool yourself, if you are so delicate that few bugs (no game breaking bugs in my gameplay) make you angry, wait for patches. because bugs will be ironed, invalid mechanic will be changed, but Gameplay, main sotry and side stories will stay there, and they are perfect. amazing memorable character (voice actors did awesome job), city is huge, like you didnt have chance to see anything like that anywhere before, no loading screens. fakelight so good that you dont need RTX. and yeah you need your PC to be a beast (i have geforce 2070 super RTX) and i had all on settings on ultra with disabled RTX. and game is beautiful.
side quests are really nice, some are simple gigs like jobs for merc (duh) and side quest from major characters (probably even more than merc jobs) that you meet, and these missions are the best, funny, sad, amazingly written and each of them is different. i love it.
so its easy to be angry on CP77 because of bugs that mean nothing at all to be honest, they are mostly funny situations than anything else, but but guts of this game is something that leaves any other game behind.
#SpoilerFree
Didn't get the game until v.1.05 so the first mayor bugs were out of the way. Didn't had any major bugs in the game later on so I guess I was just lucky!
At the time of writing this review I have ~90h of playtime and ended the main story + all side quests.
Anyway, here is the review:
## Story:
Really great!! I can't stress enough that you must dive into the Side Quests and all shady alleys of Night City in order to get the full experience!
The story is authentic and carries you away and even the non-playing audience which sat next to me and waited for me to finish the session for the day was impressed by how many ways a mission can play out if you try different approaches or dialogue options.
The only thing I might complain about is the fact, that there aren't more missions.
Even though each main quests took a lot of time I was surprised that it only have been such few ones.
Don't take me wrong here, it complaining on a high level.
## Gameplay
I played the game with a controller because I don't have a fancy Couchmaster or something but wanted to experience the game on the BIG screen.
Playing with the controller forces you to have a different non-direct playstyle I guess. A friend of mine played on PC and was in love with pistols and headshots. Well, I would have liked that too, but Controller + Ego-Shooter just doesn't feel right. I might even think, that the aim-helper of the games wasn't doing anything?! Don't know, didn't bother me much - hacked the sh*t outta these gonks!
What really made me angry sometimes was the static minimap and the car handling. Especially both in conjunction. The handling just isn't great. You should download one of the handling mods over at nexusmods. This improves the situation a lot!
And gosh, it's 2077 - why is there a static map? I missed so many turns, it cost me at least 30min of lifetime :D
## Bottom line
Get the game, I love it and I'm eager to see the DLCs in the coming months!
I didnt experience any of the glitches or problems that others faced, due to not buying it till much later after release and patches. This game is stunning. So realistic. Incredible graphics and design. The soundscape is rich and full. Huge map, tons of content. Tons of loot. Just incredible.
Its just not that fun for me. Its too much, of everything. I found it exhausting to figure out what to do, where to do it, how to do it. The incredible landscape is chock full of distractions and clutter and business. I realize they were going for that theme but its not an environment I want to explore. Its dirty, vile, grotesque. I could handle that as it was so stunningly executed, but I wasnt having fun.
I didnt care for my character, her friends, her story. Perhaps, ill pick it up another day, it IS a top shelf game that i paid a crap ton for, but playing to just get my moneys worth and not for fun is something I dont do anymore.
