Hype Train Derailed
I will admit that I spent the last 7 years since the trailer avoiding everything that ever came out or was talked about regarding Cyberpunk 2077. For me booting the game was the first time I had actually seen gameplay and luckily enough I had upgraded my gaming PC this year in anticipation so I have not had any graphical or performance issues so far. For me and my friends the tabletop game Cyberpunk 2020 is a deeply cherished game that we have spent almost a decade of our lives playing and making characters for. To me this game is to see that come to life, for fans of the tabletop game you will be amazed at how well the feel of Night City is replicated. It really captures the feel of being an Edge Runner trying to scrape together enough EuroDollars to buy your next augment. Lots of familiar brands, companies, and characters for fans of the lore to gush over. That being said this game leaves a lot to be desired for MANY people, from gameplay to optimization the game itself was too overhyped for its own good. CDPR should have done a much better job at metering expectations, but what they have here is an amazingly rich and deep canvas to work with. The people at CDPR would be remiss to shelve this game because of bad reviews so I am hopeful that overtime the game will get closer to what they had claimed it would be ala No Man's Sky. CONCLUSION: Unless you are a SUPER CHOOMBATTA with a PREEM computer and possibly a Mike Pondsmith fanboy I would wait to see what the future of the game will be. And remember, life is all about managing your expectations especially when others let you down.
