Oh yeah! It's Ninja time!
Oh-oh~ I'm so glad to have found this! I was pretty eager to buy it the moment I saw the trailer! The story is a tad expositional, but the gameplay is amazing! If you guys could please make more Ninja Gaide-like stuff I'd love it, and I would also ask if I could buy the music at some point in the future? Thanks a lot! GGWP!

Beautiful graphics, terrible controls
The audio and graphics remind me amiga games at their best - garish colors, good pixelart animation, bold music. But why do developers have to mimic the limitations of the platform to the letter? Amiga joystick had just one button. This game forces you to memorize directional attacks while making precision jumps, which is just not fun. Why cannot I remap the shuriken throw to a separate button? It would make things so much enjoyable. The boss fights, beginning with the cyber dragon, are just frustrating.

Messenger was better
I picked this up since I love retro games and absolutely adore Shovel Knight. I was disappointed. I found the story disjointed and uninteresting. I also dislike the 2 button control scheme when I have other buttons to do actions instead of having to press a direction and the attack button with no option to change it that I could find. I get that they were going for a retro feel but we have newer technology why not utilize the additional buttons. The platforming is challenging and often requires pixel perfect jumps, combat simplistic but varied. The aerial enemies the game constantly throws at you or the sheer amounts of bullets makes me feel like i'm playing R-Type not a platformer and when I died I felt like it was cheap.
