Cuphead

Cuphead's style is really unique and the visual quality is simply outstanding, however the gameplay itself is way too difficult and luck based with no way around it. There is an option to switch to simple difficulty, but you can't actually finish the game this way, as you won't get soul contracts ( which are necessary to access the final "island") from the bosses you've beaten on simple. It's fun and challenging at first, but it quickly becomes a boring chore until you completely lose all interest into this game, despite its stunning visuals. The bossfights feel very repetitive, and unless you're a godlike player with the precision of a brain surgeon, prepare to try you luck a couple (hundred) times for each bossfight. There aren't any checkpoints, many attacks are random, and the game is just completely unforgiving. You died in the last stage of the bossfight? Too bad, you have to start over from the beginning. It's great for anyone who's out here looking for a challenge, but man, is this game a test of your patience.

Graphically, this game is a complete joy. If you are a fan of 30s animation or hand-drawn graphics, Cuphead's look will more than satisfy you. With that said, the difficulty level is high enough that you should not buy it solely on its graphical merit. If you lack both the patience and the skill for highly difficult, "twitch" style games, then you should pass this one up. I thoroughly enjoyed this game. The presentation is top-notch, the controls are tight, and with the exception of a level with randomized clouds for a platforming section, Cuphead is completely fair. The game's overworld map, boss levels, and run-and-gun levels evoke the spirit of classic games such as Contra, Super Mario World, DuckTales, and Megaman. If you enjoy the aforementioned games, then Cuphead will surely delight.

I bought this game for my wife as she is a big Disney fan and the animation style was really appealing to her. Good game, full of charm, runs smooth, keeps you engaged, but good lord this game is one heck of a challenge. I thought it would be like a Mario level hard. You'd die once in a while but still be able to complete the level. Not this game. This game will kill you a lot. While it is hard, it's also beatable. You just have to memorize the patterns of the bosses. Doesn't mean you'll win, mind you, but it does make it easier. If you want challenge that is somehow also fun, this is a good game. Just try and not throw your laptop before you complete it.

1. way too hard, you have to learn the pattern. it is harder then contra3 on hard mode. you have to replay the stages again and again and again. it gets old quickly. one hit, and you have to start over to save your lifebar to the end of the stage. 2. powerful hardware, fast ssd? doesnt matter, you got loading screens every time. 3. you can walk freely on the map and get stuck. you must go behind the trees pixelperfekt to move on. 4. only playable with the xbox360 controller, otherwise you have to use the keyboard. lucky i have one. 5. 20 bucks for a short game. 3 stages, 4 bosses =16%of the game done. i am very disappointed. and gog: 20 hours downloading time for 2gb? wtf?

This game is just amazing. If you like a cute game with a huge challenge and huge reward this is the game for you. The art style is gorgeous and the gameplay is fun. Don't get me wrong it's incredibly hard but 9.5 times out of 10 when you die it's your own fault and you just retry.
