Crusader: No Remorse™

I bought this game shortly after it was first released in the 90's and it was unplayable on my less than optimal machine. 20 years later it still runs like a dog on my much better computer. The missions are too long, the controls are terrible, and the acting is hammy. I've disabled animations, played at lower resolutions, reduced the size of videos and the game still suffers from slowdown. Even worse, sometimes the game runs too fast or keys get stuck forcing my Silencer to jump around the mission zone continuously or some other useless action. The keyboard controls were designed for keyboards made before the advent of Windows keys, so when you touch it by accident you'll drop out to your desktop and be unable to return to the game. Shut it down and load it back up, then fire up your last quick save... I honestly had a better time playing this game on my PS1. Almost all of the issues of low frame rate were fixed on that platform even if the control scheme was just as convoluted. It's a fun bit of nostalgia but it you may very well find yourself just as frustrated with the poor design as you are happy with your trip down memory lane.

The memory was for a game that had a lot going for it but then I rediscover why I never finished it. This game screams for a remake WITH good controls (even slightly better would help). You feel like a drunk trying to do the most basic things like walking, jumping or shooting. I just don't see the payoff in practicing these skills if the experience is so sub par.

Ever since they announced the partnership with EA I've been checking GoG's daily for this game. Easily one of my favorite games of all time.

I don't know what the difference between others' setup (who are saying the game is great) and my own setup is, but I can't even play the first room because the controls are beyond ghastly. I'm playing on a laptop with a Razer mouse, and I've tinkered with the limited mouse sensitivity option, but to no avail, and there's no possible way to try using the touchpad, since you cannot alter the input controls.Trying to control the Silencer is like trying to explain to a deaf, mute, and blind person what senses are. I can't aim, can't move, and succeed only in spinning in dizzying circles. It is more difficult than birthing a dinosaur. I really want to play the game, but it is impossible. I guess I can't complain too loudly, since I only wasted 3 dollars on it, but it's irritating because it seems like a cool game and I don't get to experience it. I've read a couple of reviews that say it's more playable with some sort of joystick/gamepad input controller, but I don't have anything like that. Anyway, just wanted to warn those who're thinking about purchasing it, that you might get shafted due to controls.

On Level 2 of the first mission the player is required to jump onto a moving platform floating above toxic waste. I've fallen through the platform several times. The Ctrl-M command mentioned in the readme.txt shouldn't be used. Once you hit the last music track instead of looping around to the first track in the array it acts as an EXIT GAME command.
