Crusader: No Regret™

No Regret feels more like Crusader: No Remorse Expansion pack than a stand-alone game. Though the setting has changed from Earth to Moon - the premise is the same - fight WEC! We'll meet some old time favourite characters returning, some weapons will make a come-back (Like the ever-popular RP-22), while some will be new. There will be enemies old and new... But in all? It's no different than the first game. It's a solid action game, rather long and with excellent visuals. If you're a fan of the series, it's a must have. If you're starting your adventure with "CRUSADER" series... go for No Remorse first.

I will always remember this game, it was lots of fun and looked absolutely awesome in it day. The thing I will remember the most is that this was most likely the first game I ever played that changed on specific dates. I remember playing this on christmas day and the map was decorated with christmas lights etc.

Crusader: no regret is the sort-of expansion pack of the crusader saga (it continues with the story of the magnificent crusader: no remorse... but I found difficult to call it a sequel) and has a lot of problems, such as camera angles and stiff controls, especially when the gameplay requires to be precise and as fast as possible... and still is satisfying,engaging and a blast to play. True, I loved the first chapter and I happen to find it superior to this successor, still, the sequel (or expansion) adds new features to this isometric shooter ( which still remains unique in its style, or at least I never found something similar ), such as new guns and new, innovative items, that really surprised me add versatility to the inventory. However, Crusader: no regret brings the balance of the previous mix of shooter and strategic thinking more towards pure pump action, which may be at odds with stiff controls and horrible camera angles. Still, if you want just pure action and a 90' throwback with Live-action cutscenes, Crusader: no regret won't disappoint, you will buy it with no remorse. ( damn it)

The game is amazing in the first two levels, then starts becoming very hard and unfair, at least in the "loose cannon" difficult. The controls are really bad, and all the time you think: it wasn't this that I was trying to do. In the firsts levels are ok, but soon you will see a very frustating game. The biggest problem of the game is the same of a lot old games, it offers great changelles but it really doesn't give you the full controls to beat them. It's very fun, different, but its very frustating. I don't like to play any game on easy settings. I like changelles, but when they can be beaten by skill, when you really have a full control of the guy. If you are a casual player, stay away from this game or play it in one of the lowest difficult.

First off, the game starts off much cheaper than the first. The UI graphics and level graphics look and feel 90's cheesy in the first level. But once you wade through it, it gets fun. Second, the levels are MUCH MUCH harder for a given difficulty than before. The levels feel much more like a bloody puzzle to be solved than an actual place. One wrong step, and your guy explodes. You'll be mashing the QUICK LOAD key a hundred times per level. Three, SAVE properly OFTEN. Because there's plenty of things in the levels that will screw you over and it's not immediately apparent. You can go through a teleporter, while a guy walks onto the screen? Only to have him kill you when you come back, and have ZERO way to continue the map. Even with cheats, you'll have to reprogram the DOSBOX special keys just to be able to enable invulnerability for a moment so you can survive the "bug." Which is frustrating and completely takes you out of the game experience.
