It’s 1986 in California. A group of friends discover a mysterious pink stone that allows to travel between two realms. This gang will live the summer of their lives in an adventure that will get them involved in a government conspiracy. Control five kids with special skills while fighting and solving puzzles in order to save their families and the world.
Crossing Souls is an action-adventure set in a California suburb in the midst of a supernatural event that rocks the small community as grand forces siege the town. Control five characters: Chris, Matt, Charlie, Big Joe and Kevin, each one with their own skills and combat styles. Change characters on the fly and use each character's specialties to overcome any obstacle and target your foe's weaknesses. Fight in real-time, solve clever puzzles, face off against powerful bosses and play special levels inspired by 80's arcade video games.
Feel the eighties - Do you feel that? Do you smell that? Yeah, it's the eighties. A story set in 1986 full of references such as The Goonies, Gremlins, Back to the Future and many more.
Do you like Cartoons? - The cutscenes are inspired by 80's cartoons, totally original and never seen before in a videogame.
Why is this happening? - Be part of a journey between two realms, two realities: life and death. The story includes a government conspiracy, thousand-year-old characters, cowboys, pirates, ice cream, pizza, cheeseburgers, basketball… well, you got it.
This music rocks! - An original score that includes tracks inspired by John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith as well as radical Synth-Pop in the purest 80’s style. Play as if it was one of your favorite movies!
Ready? Fight! - You can kick multiple enemies in the ass stylishly. Fight against street gangs, a secret army, dead monsters, creepy ghosts and many more in frantic real-time combats where a good strategy will be essential to win. Main characters have unique talents and aptitudes.

Crossing Souls is a fun adventure and I absolutely love its vibe and references. I realy liked the the super natural teenager adventure story.
That said I'm a sucker for stylish indie adventure games made with love, thats why I can oversee some flaws.
My recomandation is play the demo, if you liked it and you imagine yourself enjoying a couple hours of this go for it! Don't expect any big gameplay changes tho.
Crossing Souls is a game filled with good ideas that are never fully realized. It is a linear (to a fault) action adventure story driven game. It's filled with 80s nostalgia and a sense of preciousness but never seems to be able to develop characters or a narrative that feel all that rich or compelling. Humorless flat cardboard characters and the stock 'bring-balance-to-the-world,' narrative makes moving through the story more a chore than an enticing discovery.
The gameplay itself is a mix of hack and slash, puzzle solving, and platforming. The platforming elements are mostly annoying and some sections are downright frustrating (you will absolutely NEED TO PLAY with a CONTROLLER).
So where then are the good ideas and why weren't they realized? Well one interesting element is the 80s inspired animated cutscenes. The problem here is that they are typically about 5-10secs, not enough to convey much story or feel substantial. In fact they feel like they get in the way most of the time. It would have been more compelling if these sequences were longer (30-90sec) chunks between act breaks instead of cut into as many pieces as there are. Further the game's linearity holds it back. Had I been able to explore the town and interact with NPCs in a substantive way (as quest givers, puzzle hint providers, item sellers etc.) it could have gone a long way to making the game more immersive and compelling. Lastly what collectibles there are in the game are totally meaningless and have no impact on the gameplay - again another wasted opportunity. Ultimately Crossing Souls is a nicely rendered retro-game whose soul is little more than wallpaper for a bygone era, without the depth one would hope for.
The game itself is a decent mother clone from the SNES times. It features some nice cartoon sequences but fails to deliver the story in my opinion.
The game is based on Unity and therefore uses Unity's user tracking features.
Neither it does tell you, nor does it present the opt-out option that other games like
Agent A: A puzzle in disguise do.
You basically have to block three Unity hosts to prevent this.

An interesting question is why there is no linux version although it is based on Unity.
Overall the game earned 3 stars.
Overall, I enjoyed this game. But I feel compelled to warn anyone who watched the cartoon trailer and thought this would be a lighthearted experience - it's actually pretty dark. Colorful and stylish, but still... dark.
Are those Reviews real or fake? The Game has a fantastic Soundtrack and a beautiful look, how can you compare that with a Gameboy Game or Stranger Things? I think its worth the money, just overlook those wannabe "everything sucks" Guys.
