Very poor man's G-police.

First thing. When you appear in the game and don't know what to do, press enter and navigate the menu with pgup/down. It's not in the controls options and the manual apparently is not here. This game is only for die hard scifi flying/shooting fans. Why? Because it doesn't really offer much. There is some nearly non-existent story in the game of you being an undercover cop on prison planets or some such. That's the reason for you doing repetitive missions in a flying/shooting car. There is very little variety to the missions and the point of the missions is only to get you money to replenish shields (which you lose quickly in this game) and there are no repeatable ones so do yourself a favour and choose some easy difficulty if you don't want to end up dead ended by having no money, low shields, and only one tough mission to select. Same goes for ammo actually, and good luck depending only on the infinite ammo lasers. The reason why you lose shields quickly is how weird the combat in this game is. You can't really dodge anything other than slow rockets and you're usually fighting swarms of enemies that make these weird moves that make you spin around like a record baby right round round round everytime you try to target them. The music, while being sort of good sometimes, is unreasonably "intense" like all the time. But the main reason I'm mentioning it is that, at least for me, lowering the volume of the music didn't exactly do anything so it was constantly blasting this weird intense combat music that was driving me nuts :D. Overall, I was quite disappointed with the game, but I did manage to finish it. With money cheats because I did ran out of money on medium difficulty. I cheated the game and myself, as the saying goes, but the game also cheated me with a bizarre outro that was straight out of a different game lol :D

In GOG We Trust

I haven't downloaded this release yet. But I did own the original one. Still got the original CDs stashed somewhere. I lost my ability to reinstall it later, after the manual containing installation unlock codes mistakenly landed in the garbage. I have waited for this so long, you guys! Poland's response to the confusingly bad G-Police, Crime Cities came with its own agenda, smelling strongly of cyberpunk influences. Controlling an anti-grav vehicle was great for its time, and I wish Techland made anything like it again. The gameplay is measured perfectly for the setting. The controls, though perhaps redundant at times, were smooth and immersive, even down to the HUD equipment store. The mechanic of needing to find a garage spot in order to install your upgrades, on its own, made everything feel that much more satisfying. The plot makes just enough sense to keep you going. The difficulty curve is a one big clunk, but that never bothered me. Just, be advised. Some of the missions felt crammed in for lack of better ideas, or in some cases, for levity's sake. Gotta earn the merc money for those sweet weapons somehow, after all. The three tiny (for today's open-world standard) metropolies make up a satisfactory setting, just enough to present some navigation challenge while firing homing rockets at unrelenting and pretty dumb AI adversaries. The traffic is... rudimentary... but there are times you wish you didn't disturb it. The cops are about as omnipresent as they are in the GTA series. On the other hand, you might want to stir their wrath just for the heck of it. The original release was as bug-free as you never see these days, hope it carries to the GOG version. I'm buying this on sight, even if for pure nostalgia value. Stricken one star off the review, just because the thing was so greatly conceived, yet so underdone in comparison to its promise. Techland, please, PLEASE make a sequel, or a remake, or whatever, really. Sincerely, A Seriously Hyped-Up Fan

First time playing 2022

Choose missions, get paid, upgrade your vehicle, progress in the story. Just an arcade shooter with a pretty cool vibe. - You CAN customize keybindings contrary to one review i read. - Only works in traditional 4:3 resolution because the ships HUD is partially off-screen in 16:9.

Pretty fun game with flying cars

Play as a gun for hire in the future, fedex quests waiting for you. Three city-prisons, forests of skyscrapers , each more hardcore than another, with more depraved prisoners populating them. Combat is hectic and intense. You have options to trach enemies (just punch a key to find nearby enemy, which is pretty handy when you loose sense of direction in a vehicle with free look. And remember - check your shield all the time, it's not uncommon to bump into building or other cars and loose the precious cover. Resourcefulness and tactics pays off in long term. How about technical site? It works pretty well and you can set it up to 1920x1080. There is one downsite - font does not scale with resolution so you have to find a sweet spot with resolution and either accept black bars or play in windowed.

23 Years Old + Beats Many New Releases!

This is a great game. I had booted it up before and failed to recognize this. This time I played through the tutorial. I will state that it has LOTS of resolution options (up to 4K?) yet almost everyone of those are completely useless for gaming. This is understandable, as it is a 1.0 release complete game from decades ago. So HERE is what you have to do. Use MAGPIE FREEWARE and play at the LOWEST in game windowed res (640x480). I did this and played at upscaled 4K. Everything was pure readable and buttery smooth. I look forwards to playing through the campaign at my leisure. Now I will seriously consider buying Cloud Punk as well because I like the 6 degrees of freedom driving, etc. Peace out all!
