Description
This is no ordinary game. By playing Creatures, you will be taking part in one of the largest Artificial Life experiments ever. Raise and train a troupe of cuddly virtual life creatures that live on the Capillata space ship and help them reach the level of advancement sufficient to fly it. This task is not easy, Norns are eager to learn but because they own individual personalities they may not always do what you want them to (or even what you expect!). Like a good parent you must be patient, teach them new things using many tools available and raise them the best you can so that after some time you could be proud of how much they have managed to achieve.

Multiplayer notice: The multiplayer features of the Creature Docking Station are no longer available.
  • Creatures Exodus is a recompilation of Creatures 3 and Docking Station
  • Unique gameplay consisting of breeding and raising autonomous, computer-controlled Norns
  • A complex AI system that mimics real behaviors
  • Almost limitless education and genetic manipulation possibilities

Great back in the day, not so much now.

Hatch some fuzzy Norns, wait for them to grow and learn, and reproduce. Different Norn species breeding changes their appearance on genetics. Sometimes, they may develop a gentic trait that is good, or sometimes bad, even fatal. Creatures 3 docked with Docking Station allows you to use the medical bay to detect bacteria, and even inject chemicals to treat illnesses (careful, ATP Decoupler=instant death). There is also a splicing machine, to make your own Norn/Grendel Hybrids...but I find they die out over time. There was also a large modding community, making "Agents", useful items, and even new breeds for the game. This expanded on the game and made it even greater and more fun. Many of these fan-made items are still out there on the web. However, many popular sites for this have died out over the years. Today, online servers are gone, so you can't send your Norns to other players, or receive their Norns. This was a nice social apspect to the game. Only down side was, knowledgeable players would breed Norns that could not die (Life chemical never depleted). Breeding with Norns in your world would make future generations immortal, overruning your world, halting future births (Once population cap was reached). I enjoyed this game greatly during it's best years. The company stopped creating Creatures games, and the Intellectual Property has passed hands a few times. This is talk of a mobile "Free to Play" Creatures game from Spil Games, called "Creatures Family" being scheduled for release around 2017. I would love to see someone start a server for this game, to help pump some new blood into this game. However, from what I've seen from old fan-sites, this game is far past it's prime. If online services where still active, I'd give it 5 stars.

A unique and wonderful game.

This game is one of the games that I sank hours and hours into when I was a young kid, and even later in my teens. I started with creatures 3, and when Docking Station came out I quickly reinstalled. Playing around with norn genetics was my thing. In the original game, I would mess about with different sorts of breeds, before going into 'frankenstein' monsters, combining both the ettin and grendel genes with my norns through the splicer. Basically, this game allows you to mess around with the norns, as well as enjoy watching them grow up, mate, play about, while giving you utter control of the ship. I recently thought of this game again and realized I had it in my library and I will definetely be reinstalling it after writing this. I dearly wish there was a more recent sequel, I have found no other game in recent years that is anything like this game. I suggest you try it if you enjoy playing around in games that give you utter control.

Norms Included

Strangely akin to Oxygen Not Included, a release of many years afterward. The A.I. here is spectacular, I wonder how gaming A.I. in general has digressed since this release in 2004, although that could be a matter of percepttion. Barebones, no hand-holding -plenty of oxygen, well worth a buy for its relaxed pace and its Artificial Intelligence.

An interesting game but..

When i saw this game i mistook it for another game of similar idea by EA. This is totally different. More limited. You take control of a new creature and have to bring it up. As it grows up it will learn. You decide as to what is wrong or right. By rewarding it for something you like and slapping it for something that you don't. So if you are feeling nasty you can reward your creature for hitting or crying. Eventually your creature grows up and you will need to breed it. As time goes on evolution of your creatures takes place, thus bringing in the rare aspect of the game. The controls take a long time to get used to and not really instinctive. It didn't flow for me. The instruction manual is not the best. I would suggest finding any videos of the game on youtube if you are unsure of it you will like it. I will continue to try to play it but in retrospect i wish i had done more research and not brought it.
