Conflict: Desert Storm

Damn, did I play this game often. The GOG version is just nice. Was a must-have for me. If only they were able to add two things: Win 10 support (on Win 10 it has really nasty geometry-bugs, which make your character »hang« at certain parts of the map) and wide screen support. Then it'd be just awesome.

Characters and NPCs float when they walk onto certain spots and will get stuck if went too far

First set the in-game resolution to the highest possible through the launcher. Make sure 32-bit colors are enabled and launch the game once to populate the resolution settings. Use regedit to navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Pivotal Games\Conflict Desert Storm\Device Settings and experiment with the resolution index key by changing the decimal, not the hexadecimal, value to a higher number than the one it is currently set to. Logic dictates the higher number will be for a higher resolution. Repeat until the number is matching your desktop resolution. For fixing the broken physics and collision issues due to the FPS being too fast, use dgVoodoo 2 to fix Vsync: github.com/dege-diosg/dgVoodoo2/releases/download/v2.86.1/dgVoodoo2_86_1.zip Copy D3D8.DLL from \MS\x86\ to your install folder. Set monitor's refresh rate to 60 or 120 Hz. Please use these instructions to play the game in an incredible way you have never experienced before.

This is one of those games that really clung to me. It never stood out. It never came close to it. But this was actually its strongest point. It was simply fun, playable, and loads of fun co-op. I drank much Pitch Black to this game, and I even named a bunch of kobolds in a D&D game I was playing after the cast. In fact, Foley, Bradley, Jones and Conners have shown themselves repeatedly in various things I've made or worked on, without me even realizing where they came from. This was just one of those games that made me happy to play. I rented it three times but never found it not for rent...and unfortunately, the sequels were... just not as fun. I finally bought it, just to own it. Either way, this is a game that at least for me, deserves a spot here far more then some other 'classic' titles.

Played this and the follow up with a friend for houres on end when it was released. We still to this day laugh our asses of when ever we hear a roll of duct tape being pulled. Do yourself a favor and play this with a friend, will form a lasting friendship!
