Extremely repetitive
You'll be figting the same squirrel minions over and over and over. The bosses themselves are the only thing that provide the slightest hint of variety. Then there's the Mech fights which there are FAR too many of. And the Mech fights themselves all repeat the exact same fighting pattern. I got tired of it immediately. The game overall is not well balanced. There is no option to grind so you can easily get yourself into an unwinnable state if you don't distribute your ressources well. Which was the case for me , i neglected my Mech to the point where i had to start the whole game from the beginning. I got farther on my second run but eventually i simply got too bored to keep on going. You're not exactly dealing with Xcom levels of strategy here. Hit enemies, heal, rinse, repeat, fall asleep. Presentation and basic idea are fine, has a lot of nerdy humor. For example dealing with angry fan letters gave me a couple of chuckles admittedly. But the core game mechanic is too monotonous and bland to keep you motivated.

Definitely worth your money!
So far I am half-way through season 2 and I can say without a doubt that this was worth every cent! Chroma Squad is a fantastic turn-based rpg with plenty of goofy references and fun game mechanics. The only thing I don't like is that the soundtrack isn't that diverse so a lot of tracks are repeated and start to get old after a while.

RNG Frustration at its Worst
If you're looking to meet the Director's instructions for each episode, be ready to restart them over and over and over again. Enemies often dodge attacks you've assigned two or more cast members to execute and the episodes have multiple parts, which means even if you beat the first half, you'll likely have to redo that if you fail to meet later goals. I'd likely bump the game up to 4 starts if the dodging was fixed or at the very least an introductions of a mid-episode restart point. As it stands, it's a cute idea with unfortunately frustrating execution.
