Cat Quest

The game is pretty good but it has its flaws. Let's start with what I liked about it. It's a good game, not grindy and the pace is really quick. Graphically, it's cute and stylized nicely. You're in a feline world killing dragons and amongst other things with a combination of both Melee and Magic abilities. The music and sound in general are both quite good. Also there is a bit of armor/weapon varieties to experiment with. The combat itself can be a challenge but once you know the pattern, it's not that bad. Now the bad. Questing is pretty much the same for everything, kill this, go there, nothing happens, sometimes something happens, this is a recurring theme. The questing dialogue was so bad I just started ignoring it and mashing my controller to blow through it because it wasn't important enough for me to even care that much. Your companion.... Oh my goodness I can't stand him. If you've played Legend of Zelda, you know that Navi and Fi are obnoxious. Multiply it x10 with this game's companion. The cons I would consider to be a minor hinderance but I would not consider it a dealbreaker at all if you just blow through the game dialogue. If you can find this game on sale I recommend it. It's a good game to play if you want to shut your brain off and relax.

I really liked the game, though it was really cute and charming. The mechanics are pretty simple, which i dont think its a bad thing in this title, and the pacing is pretty good, plus i love the overly used cat puns. The only thing keeping it from a 5 star, in my opinion, is the fact dungeons dont tell you if there is any treasure missing in them, and a lot of treasures are off the main dungeon map through invisible passages, so it was pretty frustrating to leave a dungeon just to see that i had a treasure missing and do it all over again. I'd say it's a worth buy!

Honestly, this game is way better than it has any right to be. Despite being fit for children, it's actually very well put together. The gameplay is not too complex, but very enjoyable, and challenging enough but never punishing. The story and the setting, honestly, despite it's comedic and unserious appearance, are actually pretty good, and full of things you'd expect from a fantasy RPGs, like plot twists, deep backstories, or unanswered mysteries. At the same time, the game isn't above poking jokes at genre tropes, like "Is this really a level 1 quest?". So do I have complaints? The leveling is very linear, so other than choosing the right spells and stats to focus on with equipment, there isn't much room to maneuver. Also, enemy levels are annoying. There's no way of knowing if the same looking pink bat is thirty levels below you or thirty levels above. All you get is guessing from the area but even that's not always reliable.

It has cute art. It has a meh story. It has god awful cat puns, which aren't even real puns. It has, like, ten enemies. Every quest is a fetch quest. There's no variety in combat.

A great game with simple mechanics with average replay value. Gameplay is addictive. Money well spent.
