Become the Monster, damnit!

Strange how a horror game where you play the monster can creep you out anyway. It's basically an action-survival-puzzle horror game set as a 2D semi-platformer that lets you play as a huge mass of fleshy tendrils with teeths and eyes that moves around at ludicrous speeds, eats human flesh and breaks stuff. You complete the different levels of the labs by solving puzzles, eating human flesh and amassing biomass, and you unlock new powers à la Metroid-style by finding biohazardous materials hidden here and there. Controls are intuitive and smooth, pixel graphics are masterfully done -and friggin gruesome-, the atmospheric soundtrack is great, and the game itself is jampacked with action. I can't get over the nightmarish implications around this creature either. Feels like a precursor to "Prototype" mixed-in with Lovecraftian mythos.

I just love it!

Fairly good horror game. I took my time with it and really enjoy it. The skills you get (parasitism is by far my favorite one) as you progress, the place, the music is well done. Recommended.

Short and sweet (and fresh!)

A fresh idea with a great execution. It's a pure joy just to move as the fleshy pile of mouths and tentacles. Great level design that explores the possibilities of the original movement system and abilities without overstaying it's welcome. The game is concise and doesn't wait your time, every level of the interconnected world presents different challenges, both in terms of combat and light puzzles. The combat itself is super fun and juicy. You are the apex predator here, no dobut about it, but if you're not careful it's suprisingly easy to be decimated in a variety of different ways, which I won't spoil here. Those pesky humans do put up enough resistance for you not to charge mindlessly into the fray. Overall, I loved my experience with Carrion. This is what I play games for - to explore new ideas, that have been thoroughly explored and well executed without wasting my time. As a life-long game, it's rare that I get to play something completely different than before, and this game delivers on that.

really enjoyed it

I really enjoyed playing this reverse horror game, loved the graphic style with a lot of details. Gameplay was really nice and I finished he game before it got boring. A map would with fast travel would be nice but at the same time that would make a short game even shorter... Well done!

Visceral, Gory, Fun

Carrion is a "reverse-horror" game, where you essentially play as an amorphous red monster made of teeth and tentacles. You wreck havoc in an underground labratory. It features a really fun blend of stealth and action horror mechanics, with some metroidvania elements. It's graphically beautiful, featuring some of the most detailed sprite-work I've seen in a 2D game, and features a really fitting atmospheric-industrial soundtrack. It can be a little confusing to get around due to a lack of a map, but overall it's a very well made game, that is a lot of fun. It's only 3-6 hours in length, but Carrion lived up to my expectations, and I highly recommend it. Full Video Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vDUQxlNoXk
