Buahahhahhaha

I never realised playing the monster for a change would be such crazy fun...;D For this first time around I am not expecting something to jump out at me, when crawling though dark, greasy ventilation ducts... this time, I am doing the jumpscares! Controls help you get into the role very well (bit floaty but perfectly suited for quickly sllipping through pipes and around dark corners). Flickering lighting plays up the horror theme very well, too. Looking for 'secret' rooms gets a whole new quality, when there's a vengence element to it (you're not duke nukem looking for keys or ammo - you're a blob, grown angry and ravenous, seeking out its captors, wherevery they may be hiding.

Great game, almost perfect

Overall, I liked Carrion, I think it's a good little game. My only criticism is the way you control the monster, it can be really hard to tell where the "head" is when it looks like a big red worm. Sometimes it's one of the ends, and other times it's somewhere in the middle. And it's even more confusing in the water, where you're literally a bunch of red worms. There could have been a button, like the D-pad, where you can change the shape of the monster at any time. Using Left/Right to become Flat for a narrow area (also determining where is the "head" of the monster), or Up/Down a ball for more speed or something like that. But despite that, I think it's worth it. 9/10

monster fun

Had a great time playing this when I had Gamepass. Easy to run on old systems. The monster was fluid and moves fast. Not so hard difficulty so perfect for casual players. My only complaints: lack of map, and game felt short. Hoping for a sequel.

Great but a bit flat and too expensive

I really enjoyed the game and 100%ed it after finishing the story. Great fun and a novel experience. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the locations. Controlling the monster felt great as well and different to controlling any other video game characters. It has a nice sense of weight to it. I especially love zooming around as the tiny one. A bit short but that's for the better. Had it been 20 hours long, I'd have become bored with it. The game is not a typical metroidvania in the sense that you find new items, skills etc all the time. You're just an organism that has escaped from a lab, trying to leave a high security facility. So no complaints about the lenght. I just think the price is a bit high considering that the game is just a few hours long. I think the game would have benefitted a lot from adding some pacifist run stuff and a pacifist ending. It would increase the replayability a lot and add some depth to the game. As for now, it is a bit flat. Only one ending, which I usually don't mind. No reason to add endings for the sake of it. Its just that I would love to be able to play this game both as a hide and seek stealth game and a devour them all monster game. Good exploration with some secret rooms here and there. Enjoyed the puzzles in these rooms. At times difficult to keep track of where you have been and where you need to go. There is no map and there are no markers etc. Level design makes progress very intuitive and natural but if you do manage to stray of path it can take some time to get back to where you left it. Still, I would not want to monster to run around with a map or compass. Better as it is. I only managed to get lost once, luckily. Recommended but I'm glad I waited for a sale.

Good game - with some flaws

Carrion is a good game; not perfect, just good. It develops a very interesting idea: you're a red monster formed by tentacles, jaws and blades, trying to flee from a laboratory, gruesomely killing and devouring anyone who stands in your way. It's funny, the puzzles are quite simple and the areas offers you a lot of ways to kill the enemies. It has also one thing that for someone could be a con but not for me: you're not an invincible monster. Humans' weapons kill you very quicly if you're not careful and if you mindlessly charge toward them. You have to think tactically and use the background to overcome all dangers. Unfortunately, for me it has some flaws that kill some of the fun: - the story isn't developed too much. Why insert the flashbacks? Of the two one: or, with the backstory, you give me more motivation to kill all this humans, or you remove it and you let me enjoy the slaughter without interruptions. Putting a poor backstory there it kills the depth or the black humour it could have - At first I thought a map would help, but then I understood that no, it would be pointless. You have never the impression of freely run around the laboratory: instead, you always have this sense of being dragged by the game in the only right direction. - After the first hour an half, it becomes quite repetitive in the mechanics. And the risk is boredom. Yeah, you gain more powers, but the areas and the type of puzzles remain the same, and, since the enemies' strength grows too, you have never the impression of becoming effectively more powerful. I think, in one word, the flaw of the game could be identified in the lack of irony. Still, a good game.
