There are better games out there

POI has some interesting ideas, but unfortunatly very few of them are done well. The story is lackluster and feels incomplete, the puzzles are ok(though pixel hunting shows up a lot) and you'll die a lot from timed puzzles. The voice acting isn't stellar either. It's very light on the Lovecraftian side, with some allusions to the mythos but it doesn't really fit with his stories very well and precious little "horror" to be found. Shadow of the comet is a better Lovecraft game even if it's got it's own issues. There's not a lot of reasons to play this other then you need to play every Lovecraft related or adventure game. Or if you liked Shadow of the Comet and you really want to see what a sequel would look like.

Nice game without saving problems

Great Game, works completely fine. Saving works as it should and no crashes at all. And about the game itself, maybe a bit short but the story is just perfect and not boring at all. The riddles are not too easy not too hard, just fitting the situation. Its just a great game. If you want to play some old school point'n'click games with a great story go for it, its worth it. Definitely.

Nothing bad but nothing special.

The game contains Lovecraft´s elements, nevertheless, it lacks of the mysterious style of the master. It´s only the Mythos used to tell a not very well written story at moments. However, it has a good interface and this is very remarkable talking about an old game. Some puzzles contains "pixel hunting", it is not very hard or very long game but it is enjoyable. Pros: -Good interface. -Visually good scenes. -Solid game in general terms. Cons: - The plot has holes and sometimes is not written very well. -Pixel hunting. -Some ilogic puzzles. -Not very long.

Nice adventure, not much of a horror

Despite being a sequel to Shadow of the Comet, the atmosphere of this game is very different. The monsters are introduced at the very beginning so there is little sense of creeping dread or suspense that the first game had. I found the screeching monsters more annoying than scary. The autosaving before 'critical sequences' in the game also is an early warning that you are about to die, so you just wait for the scene to play out and then try over and over until you get it right (often timing is of essence and such). However it is a nice touch because it saves you trouble of saving manually all the time. The controls are greatly improved over the first game. The puzzles are generally straightforward and mostly can be solved using common sense, not some convoluted game logic, and the only annoying ones are those where you have to pixel-hunt for a near-invisible but essential item. I mostly used a walkthrough to check what I'd missed when I felt like I have clicked on every pixel of the screen and still couldn't find anything. Overall the game is nicely balanced and makes for a relaxing evening, 4-star rating only because it lacks the horror atmosphere of its predecessor.

A cool little adventure

You might enjoy this game under rather specific conditions : you like Lovecraft lore, and rather pointlessly difficult P&C adventure games (timed deaths, pixel hunting). It looks good, ran perfectly with windows 10. Just keep a guide handy.
