Excellent crime story, I had already played the original game and got the remake for Android which didn't disappoint me. Of course I had to get the PC version as well, because I LOVE it. It's surely one of the most successful adventures, and Revolution deserves all my appreciation to make this game available in many languages and operating systems, among all other details. I also want to praise GOG's initiative to include the original version too.
Disclaimer: I have actually never played the director's cut version.
I finished this game multiple times back when I was a kid. And my god I had such a great time. Back then I would have sweared that this is the best game ever made.
Go play it!
First time playing the first Broken Sword game, I believe I played the second one when I was younger on the playstation but overall I really enjoyed this game! The puzzles were fun, and the story was engaging and immersive.
This game is probably targeted a lot more towards the original players of the series, but with the Remake us newbies can now understand and get a feel about why this game was so great!
I have played this game multiple times. In a way it was almost avant-garde: a conspiracy thriller about the knights templar, long before The Da Vinci Code hit the shelves.
I remember playing the original as a kid in the late nineties, and then, many years later, the Director's Cut. The first time I played the Director's Cut, it was on a Nintendo DS, and I quite liked some of the story elements they added. After having played it now for the second time on a MacBook Pro, I'm not so impressed anymore. Although the new storyline managed to get me interested, it didn't really lead anywhere in the end. You can't die in the game anymore, which took some of the thrill out of it for me. The graphics and the animation are uneven, to say the least. The Cutscenes, for some reason, end very abruptly... I could go on for hours.
If I had only purchased the Director's Cut version of the game, I'd probably rate it three stars out of five. That is, if I felt generous. However, as the original game is included with the GOG package, how could I possibly complain?
Again, not all is bad about the Director's Cut, some of the things they added are neat. But I wholeheartedly recommend trying the original version first.
