BROFORCE FOREVER

Broforce Forever, the long-awaited free update to 2015’s most patriotic video game, held back from freedom-loving gamers for a crime it didn’t commit, has promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade and unleashes a megaton of Kentucky-fried carnage into the face of evil.

The final update offers an improved and expanded campaign with new unlocks, along with six new ultra-patriotic bros, four new democracy-spreading challenge levels, and the ultimate expression of military might – bug fixes!

The best way for a returning player to enjoy this is to play through the entire campaign again. And again. Forever.

NEW BROS

Harness the calculating intelligence and acid-spitting allure of Seth Brondle, wield Xebro’s flying Chakram, serenade (and grenade) terrorism with the flamenco firebrand Desperabro, or become the thing monsters have nightmares about, a stake throwing, unholy purging, self-resurrecting teenage Slayer!

If sniping is more your style, famed bug hunter Bro Gummer brings pinpoint liberation with his trusty rifle, while Demolition Bro’s Freeze Grenades put evildoers right back where they belong… ON ICE.

NEW BADDIES

A Bro only becomes a force when confronted with those who seek to destroy their freedoms, and in Broforce Forever, the terrorists are even more determined to delete democracy. Motorbike Maniacs will try to run you down, while machine gun placements, barbed wire, sandbags and bazooka-laden blimps conspire to make each visit to occupied territory a very, very bad day at the broffice.

NEW CHALLENGES

Bros in search of even bigger battles can flex their muscles in new challenge levels known as Muscle Temples. Each campaign tasks Indiana Brones with navigating a perilous temple that features a new Threat Level and specific enemy types and hazards. Succeed and unlock one of four new flexes that can be deployed by any Bro, any time, any place. Just like freedom.

Fun, until a certain point...

TL;DR The random respawning of characters helps you, then HURTS you. Has bad character ideas for the platforming style and forces you to play as them. Fun with friends. Has local co-op, which is always good. It's fun in the beginning, and with friends it's amazing. When the game gets more difficult, however, it begins to make the player rely more and more on luck. Are you going to get one of the decent characters from the beginning levels that you unlocked? Or....are you going to get a character that can only shoot downwards. Or a guy who lobs grenades that bounce and destroy the entire stage, which makes traversal more difficult. Yeah, the aspect where you respawn as an entirely different Bro made sense in the beginning since you might need a different character to get past a difficult part. But then the characters got bad, and it REALLY started to hurt the player instead of helping. Randomness can be fun in a platformer, but THIS kind of randomness changes the way you play every single time you die. What if you needed a certain Bro, but then you got unlucky and died? Sucks to be you. You'll have to cycle through and EVENTUALLY get to a good Bro. Overall, the style is fantastic, it can be hilarious, and the game forces you to be resourceful (which I like). Unfortunately, a game like this can get overencumbered with characters, especially BAD character ideas that make no sense to the platforming style that they chose.

BRO! This is a great arcade kind of game mix with a little bit of strategy and lots of cool characters to choose from, everything functions as it should and is fun!

High paced 1980s theme action

You die often, but while laughing instead of being frustrated. The constant change of characters force you to learn all abilities and use whatever is randomly selected for you.

Great fun!… could be perfected though

Broforce is designed with love, care, and talent. With its colorful graphics and sweet sound design, it’s a great homage to the macho action movies of old, and a very straightforward and satisfying “kill the bad guys and get to the end of the level” type of game. However, it stands apart due to its fully destructible environments: almost every piece of scenery can be blown apart, adding a tactical element to the already hectic combat. You can dig your way through levels and destroy walls to take your enemies by surprise; there are explosives everywhere, meaning that a chain reaction can easily be triggered. Getting caught in a deadly explosion or destroying too much of the terrain are common annoyances, but they don’t spoil the fun that much. The campaign is just the right length, and constantly introduces new gameplay elements and enemies. The playable “Bros”, based off characters from classic action flicks, have each their own quirks and are insanely varied in their gameplay! You constantly get to play as new randomly-chosen Bros, and their special attacks are fun to master and add a great deal of replayability to the levels. However, some are ridiculously overpowered while others feel kind of impotent, meaning that the fights (notably against bosses) can get either ridiculously easy or almost impossible depending on the Bros you were given. It mostly serves to spice things up, but can feel like an issue at times. But while Broforce is a blast (either with friends or on your own), I’m not quite sold on the last 25% or so of the campaign. It tries to spice things up by introducing new enemy types, but those can be annoying to deal with: some respawn endlessly, move in weird ways, take too much damage… While many will enjoy the challenge, I don’t think it’s as well-designed as earlier levels. Still, Broforce is a really sweet little game, and also includes a sweet level editor! It’s quite cheap and a lot of fun, so you pretty much have no excuse not to own it!

Short & Sweet

This game is just pure fun throughout. The controls and gameplay are easy to learn, even if you aren't amused by the 80s action hero theme the characters are still all fun as hell to play and unique, although some stand out more than others, and most importantly it's a total blast to play co-op. Unfortunately it's kinda short for the (non-sale) price and having more Bros to unlock would increase the replay value (one playthrough in 2 player and we unlocked all of the characters) but there is almost infinite fun to be had just drinking beer and dispensing freedom with some of your own bros.
