Description
Bright Memory is a lightning-fast fusion of the FPS and action genres, created by one-man development studio FYQD using Unreal Engine. Combine a wide variety of skills and abilities to unleash dazzling combo attacks. SRO (Supernatural Science Research Organization) agent Shelia's adventure is about to begin.

This game depicts the maiden adventure of a woman named Shelia in the year 2020.

The 1000-year-old relic swords known as "Kanshou and Bakuya", discovered through SRO research, have been found to comprise a unique multilayered structure, containing a mysterious substance in their cores. This substance, known as the "Soul of Jiu Xuan", possesses the ability to reanimate the dead. In an attempt to take possession of the substance, the "SAI" - a massive terrorist organization controlling its own army - has used a cutting-edge piece of technology known as a "Quantum Transporter" to infiltrate the SRO research facility and steal top-secret and incredibly dangerous data. To make matters worse, while attempting to calibrate coordinates on the Quantum Transporter, Shelia mistakenly activates the device, immediately transporting everyone in the vicinity to the Floating Island - an airborne continent near the North Pole, undisturbed in its slumber for over 1000 years. It is soon discovered that the various beasts and corpses of those who once populated the island have been reanimated by the "Soul of Jiu Xuan", and they're coming for Shelia...

Bright Memory - Episode 1 Review

Introduction: Well, this is a surprise. Bright Memory is a child between Devil May Cry, Dark Souls and Doom. It has the enemy design with the combat multiplier (B, A, S, SS, SSS) from DMC, the enemy attack pattern memorization and boss fights from Dark Souls and the frantic shooting from Doom. All this with an amazing graphical quality and design that makes me shocked to imagine only one person developed all this. Gameplay: As stated before, this game has an array of different games mechanics that mix quite well. When I started the game and it introduced mechanics, it showed some great qualities. It has a solid, albeit small, selection of guns for combat (1 shotgun, 1 submachine and 1 pistol) and a basic Sword. The guns are fun to shot, with the submachine being much more interesting than the shotgun, having better recoil and sound. The powers are cool, but would be nice to have different cooldown pools and different key binding (all use F to activate). The combat is simple and getting large multipliers (A or S or even SS) is quite simple. I only died once to a misplaced jump, the game is quite on the easy side. When talking about Environment, this is a very strict corridor shooter. Go from point A to point B. Nothing mind blowing, but works well with the gameplay offered. Story: The story is messy and it will not be the reason for you to get this game. It has potential, but nothing that caught my attention too much. Graphics Another great aspect of the game is its graphics. Characters are well detailed (particularly Shelia and the bad guy(?)) as well as enemies. Overall Feelings: Keep in mind that, since this only has Episode 1, you will have less than 1 hour per run of enjoyment. The New Game+ modes (or weeks) add nothing new to the table, so it is a very short experience. I liked what I got and the price is quite low, but your taste may not like it.

Short but sweet.

You get roughly 30 minutes of gameplay. Very "arcadish" which is not my type of game, but it was pretty fun nontheless. It's basically a mashup of Crysis and the recent Tomb Raider series in a very, once again, arcade setting. I got a little bug at first, I though I had to explore, but the enemy waves stopped happening. Luckily that was fixed promptly by my need to explore every crevace, since I perished. It played fine afterwards, and the land may look explorable, but it's not :P I wont play this again, but if it gets updated I will definitely check it out again. Money well spent :)

Just Amazing!!

This is basically the FPS version of being in an anime. Imagine Tomb Raider and Doom got together and made a short, but super awesome game. The controls are fluid, the puzzles are simple, but not too much so, and the skill tree gives you something to look forward to. You can replay the game at higher difficulties to unlock more stuff. That does extend it's life by some, but ymmv. For a game that was made by 1 guy as a proof of concept, this game rocks! It is well worth the price and all profits go towards helping the developer assemble a team and build a more expansive version of this game. Did I mention you can keep yourself in the air by shooting your gun?

May As Well Pick Up A DRMfree Copy......

I bought it on Steam a few days ago and would have got it on GOG only, but i didnt see it until a day after purchase and since it is so cheap at the time of writing I bought it here too, for ONE, To support the devs TWO The game is fantastic for what i have seen... im stuck at the moment. but i have no issues only my own faults in game as the Combat is fast and fluid. GOG PLEASE LET US EDIT! as i want to update my review at a later date when I have played the game for longer and gained more experience with the product.

A demo disguised as a full game

Let me say the good stuff first. The game looks nice and it was fun. Now the bad stuff. It's short. It can be finished in an hour give or take 30 minutes. I've played free demos longer than this. And when I beat it, it basically just told me to go buy Bright Memory Infinite which increased the feeling of "Oh I just played an expensive demo". It's story is virtually nonexistent and the little bit it has is super confusing. There's a girl and this building blows up and she gets teleported and there are monsters and some guy named Carter. That's about all I could figure out. It's got some free outfits for the main character but it's a first person shooter so outside of 30 seconds or so during cutscenes you will never see that outfit. If this was a free demo, I would play it and then be interested enough to go buy Bright Memory Infinite. But this "game" wasn't free and wasn't worth the money I spent on it.
