Braid is a puzzle-platformer, drawn in a painterly style, where you can manipulate the flow of time in strange and unusual ways. From a house in the city, journey to a series of worlds and solve puzzles to rescue an abducted princess. In each world, you have a different power to affect the way time behaves, and it is time's strangeness that creates the puzzles. The time behaviors include: the ability to rewind, objects that are immune to being rewound, time that is tied to space, parallel realities, time dilation, and perhaps more.
Braid treats your time and attention as precious; there is no filler in this game. Every puzzle shows you something new and interesting about the game world.
Forgiving yet challenging gameplay: Braid is a 2-D platform game where you can never die and never lose. Despite this, Braid is challenging — but the challenge is about solving puzzles, rather than forcing you to replay tricky jumps.
Rich puzzle environment: Travel through a series of worlds searching for puzzle pieces, then solving puzzles by manipulating time: rewinding, creating parallel universes, setting up pockets of dilated time. The gameplay feels fresh and new; the puzzles are meant to inspire new ways of thinking.
Aesthetic design: A painterly art style and lush, organic soundtrack complement the unique gameplay.
Nonlinear story: A nonlinear fiction links the various worlds and provides real-world metaphors for your time manipulations; in turn, your time manipulations are projections of the real-world themes into playful "what-if" universes where consequences can be explored.
Nonlinear gameplay: The game doesn't force you to solve puzzles in order to proceed. If you can't figure something out, just play onward and return to that puzzle later.

I buy steam, the game is great, just pure art, beautiful! I recommend it, but you must have patience to complete it, it is difficult and it can be frustrating. But is a great game!
Braid is definitely not the worst game I've ever played, but it might be the most overrated. It exemplifies the worst parts of the Indie game scene.
After having it on my wishlist for years, I finally went ahead and bought it, ready for the experience of a lifetime based on all the amazing reviews I'd read. I like platformers and puzzle games, and I'd heard the story is amazing. What could go wrong?
Boy, was I disappointed. The gameplay is not very original, and the platforming controls are super loose. The graphics are nothing special (I don't understand why so many people rave about them), though I admit the soundtrack is decent. The rewind mechanic and time control elements have been done better in other games. The enemies are boring.
Parts of this game were obviously designed to be frustrating. The one missable star...the hidden star in level 1 that you have to wait TWO HOURS to get, for no good reason. The key you can't reverse in...I forget, one of the early levels. There's just no reason for these design decisions.
Worst of all is how full of itself this game is. The story is nothing special, but it sure piles on the ambiguity and symbolism. The "plot twist" at the end of the game is sort of clever, but not nearly as mind-blowing as I would have thought based on the reviews.
TL;DR, this game deserves a solidly mediocre rating, maybe 3/5 if you enjoy this type of thing. It's definitely not worth $15. Worst of all, the creator obviously did not design this game to be fun. Playing this game is like rereading an essay you got an A+ on in senior year of high school ten years later and realizing how dymb you were at the time.
