I admit that the game is really difficult, but that shouldn't be the reason why some people don't like it. I suspect that these people can't appreciate the beauty of the game's design, or only because they are too impatient. Everyone who likes this game could understand its excellence, and the feeling it brings us is unique. If you don't have any patience, DO NOT try this. And never feel frustrated because of a game, PLEASE.

•Braid is a pure puzzle game. This is both the greatest strength of the game, and also the weakness of the game. • It is very well presented, without question, and has tight controls required of the game, and a thoughtful central mechanic. Unfortunately, that is about all it has. In the eyes of the indie boom, that was all it needed, but having played it but only recently, I can say it has been overtaken by several other games. •There really isn't much of a hook beyond the presentation and central mechanic. • This is a short game. Most of the length is spent figuring out the how of things rather than anything else. Once you've figured that out, it doesn't take very long to navigate.

My only complaints is the writing is too self-indulgent to be attractive to an outsider. Being a very succinct game, it pushes me to find blind spots in my own thought more than most puzzle games. It is simply a joy to appreciate how the new time manipulation skill works and how tidy and clean the puzzles are. Detail, artistic finish and a superb soundtrack that I have used as work music since I first played this game. Unlike any other game I've ever tried. Beautifully painted and varying between surreal, dreamy and narrated - all in intensely satisfying ways.

I have absolutely no idea why this game gets all the raving reviews. First of all (and don't let anyone tell you otherwise) : this is a platformer, albeit with a couple of twists. Everyone who is looking for a puzzle game genre The Room series, look away now. So, you will need to do nanotimed jumps & restart levels a lot. Sure, you can rewind time but you will find that the game will deliberately frustrate you by letting some things not go back in time. The level of frustration was so high for me that I absolutely couldn't care less about the story. I ultimately watched the ending on YouTube because even with a video walkthrough some of the last levels were too annoying for me (and that has very seldom happened). Philosophical? nope, as one other reviewer stated : pretentious (and boring to be honest). Steer clear of this one if you like a good puzzle game. If you really want platformers that have great mechanics : try Limbo or Inside. I gave one star for the artwork (which was nice in 2008).
