Save 20% when purchasing BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE Soundtrack and BPM: BULLETS PER MINUTE game together!

Fight as a mighty Valkyrie to repel the forces of the underworld from invading the world of Asgard.

Gameplay

In BPM, all of your actions and the actions of your enemies are tied to the beat of the music. Your enemies perform a dance-like sequence of attacks to an epic rock opera. BPM is inspired by retro shooters of the 90’s. It is fast, frenetic and rhythmical. You can double jump, dash, rocket jump and bunny hop to evade your opponents.

Your goal is to reach the end of randomly generated dungeons, collecting different weapons, abilities and items each time you play. These weapons and abilities can radically alter the way you play, making each playthrough unique.

You must defeat 7 bosses to reach the final boss. Each boss moves and attacks in a unique way that you must learn to exploit if you want to succeed. Some attacks require you to jump over fields of lava, some to dodge fast projectiles, some to hold fast for a beat.

Features:

  • Shoot, jump and dodge to the beat while battling hordes of enemies.
  • Fight powerful bosses in challenging boss battles that will push you to the edge.
  • Explore randomly generated dungeons.
  • Choose from 5 different characters with unique strengths and weaknesses.
  • Wield a powerful arsenal of weapons, all with different behaviour for firing and reloading to the beat of the soundtrack.
  • Battle a diverse array of enemies, each with unique rhythmic behaviours.
  • Get overpowered and fire shotgun rockets while flying through the air.
  • Utilize abilities that radically alter the way you play the game, from teleport to freezing bolts.
  • Equip over 40 items that buff your character in unique and interesting ways.
  • Experience an epic rock opera soundtrack.
  • Challenge modes for extra gameplay.

I hate it

I'm frustrated with this bs. Everyone kept telling me how great this game was, so I bought it despite it being a Roguelike, a genre I avoid like the plague. I haven't played any rythm games before, so I assume I suck at them, that's not really the games fault. What is however the games fault is that it punishes you in a really awkward way for not hitting the beat. If you miss, you won't fire at all. That feels awful! I have a strong dislike when games take control away from you. Usually when I say this, I'm talking about games that force you to slowly walk while some character talks to you, but taking away your ability to shoot in a shooter is on an entirely different level of being annoying! What were they thinking? Why isn't giving you boni for good timing enough, they could even be substantial. I cannot express how much I hate this. Reloading taking multiple button presses is literally the worst idea I ever saw in a shooter. My brain is wired to press reload once and to expect to be able to shoot again. With the shotgun, which holds 6 rounds, you need to press reload for every single shot! I can't get used to that, and to be honest, I don't want to. I don't have much times these days and won't waste it to get good at a game that handles like that. To me personally it's one of the worst games I've played in quite a while. I'm willing to admit, that this might partly be a skill issue. But it's the games job to make you want to get better. It didn't at all. I like the graphics design and the music... everything else I hated.

Interesting idea, but not executed well

First off, let me list my specs so that everyone is aware of what my build has. Intel i9 10900 Nvidia RTX 2060 super 64GB RAM (of course storage space isn't an issue) Secondly, let me mention that I often start FPS games I've never played before on lower difficulties and crank the difficulty for subsequent playthroughs. This was my first playthrough. I was playing on the lowest difficulty which is normal. Now, I love Doom. I am quite a fan of that series, and this game resembles the older Doom titles in some aspects. That said, it plays more like a dungeon crawler FPS than Doom as everything is randomly generated. The core gameplay loop is entertaining enough, but there are some issues that make the game somewhat annoying at least for me. 1.) Health is handled very poorly in this game. Your HP starts at 100 and evenly divided up into chunks of 25. Every enemy in the game will take out one of those chunks every time you get hit. That means that even the smallest, tiniest, crappiest enemy can take you out in four hits. 2.) Weapon range. This has to be what has kind of killed the game a bit for me. You start out with garbage weapons and then after you get out of range it doesn't register your attacks. It will show a message that says "too far" every time you shoot your weapon. LITERALLY WHY? I recently played the OG Doom from the 90s and was shooting guys across the room. This feels incredibly regressive for a shooter made in 2020, but maybe I'm just being too picky. This isn't a big deal against the lackey enemy types, but it becomes insanely frustrating when you're dealing with bosses that can basically 360, no-scope you at will. 3.) Graphical tearing and intense saturation. Firstly, the saturation is really intense and can be hard on the eyes for some. Luckily, you can adjust that, but be warned. Secondly, I had frequent screen tearing where I would have entire patches of pixels across my monitor turn white during gameplay. Overall 2/5 meh...

Broken Release!

#1: - XINPUT1_4.dll file is missing, prohibiting game from launching. #2: - Offline Backup Installer is missing UE4 Prerequisites, needed to Verify / Repair with GOG Galaxy to "finish" the install, except additional Galaxy Verify / Repair attempts result in repeats of the identical 101MB download . . . WITH NO FIX!

Stay away...

I was hyped since its announcement. Stay away from this game, the visuals make it literally unwatchable, it's hard to see enemies giving they are the same color of the environment (red), the game sometimes has painful slowdown for no reason. The slowdowns are room and visit based: you enter the room and it starts to stutter visibly, it won't go away unless you enter another room. Sometimes if you re-enter it doesn't stutter anymore. And imagine when that happens into the boss room, where you can't leave. You die, and must start the level from the beginning, and giving they are random generated, it's a different level, with different power-ups and everything. Oh, and you get variations like reduced gravity or slippery floor. That is nice, exactly what you need to play a game where movement seems important (that is sarcasm). Some power-up are also unreachable, I can't see how you can get to higher floors when you don't have stairs or something. It lacks of visual queues, like when you are out of ammo (you have to change clips, but they are infinite) and audio is not clear enough. Also it's not clear that you have to dodge how the game tells you, doesn't matter if you are outside of the ray shoot by the draugr: you have to dodge in the direction shown by the cross-hair (I think). Tip for developers: NEVER build columns into an FPS. You corner yourself thinking there is space to move, but you in fact you are in a corner between the wall and a protruding column and you are going to die. I don't know any other FPS that does this, except Halo (and it sucks). Maybe there is a reason why. I tried really hard, I wasted hours trying to find something good.
