Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

An ancient and dusty memory, this game. I thought I'd never have the chance to own it again (my laptop does not have a CD drive and even if it did it wouldn't run my physical copy). Not only can I now play it, but they even went out of their way to fix the obscene load times (I love this game but I'm not gonna pretend that wasn't a thing). The story, characters gameplay are brilliant. This game specifically gave me the isometric bug, I've always got time for a game with the overhead/isometric view because I've always wanted to relive experiencing this game for the first time. Thank you GOG, I saw you got ST Armarda as well, you know me so well. The game has is an action adventure game where you fight your way through Nosgoth (essentially medievil Germany) as a vengeful vampire slain as a mortal noble on a dark night while looking for respite. Has a night and day system and weather (crucial as your a vampire and sunlight, rain and snow will mess you up in different ways) and vibrant, beautiful (of dated) environments to fight your way through. You collect a variety of weapons, spells and tools to assist you on your way (protip, once you get the axes just spam them, it's not efficient but it's certainly effective and fun). The game has heavy metroidvania mechanics and the weapons and spells (and transformations) will allow you to explore your environment better and further unlock more of Nosgoths secrets. TL;DR, AXENADO VAMPIRIC GORE SPOUT 10/10 WOULD SUBJEGATE AGAIN VAE VICTIS

This is a hit of nostilga for me. It plays well with a xbox controller, you just have to reset the B button. I had forgotten how slow the charcter moved but for its age it is still a great story.

I had to download a mod from https://www.codeweavers.com/compatibility/crossover/forum/blood-omen-legacy-of-kain?msg=258156 to get it to work on my PC. It wouldn't even open before. It is an old game so I wasn't expecting the best experience. It is pi55ing me off that the movement is so weird and touchy. You have to be in the exact right spot to hit something. And the enemies randomly become harder to ki11 for no reason. I'm talking I reloaded the save to get thru without dy1ng and there are random enemies that take 6 hits instead of 1 like they were the first time. However, the story is good and that is why I am playing it. Since that was my whole goal and I got it to work, I'll give it 4 stars.

Well, finally there is a way to legally own a copy of game! Is seems to be working well for most of the folks there, but I have some input issues (maybe because I have a KVM switch) and I don't have cinematic. There is still excellent working guide for installing game from image on the GOG forum, which can be used, once you legally have the game.
