Description
Scotland, 1926. Following the suicide of his father, David Gordon visits his ancestral home for the first time in his life. A life that is soon threatened by the dark secrets that claimed the sanity of many Gordons before him.

Tormented by nightmares and waking dreams for all his life, David fears that it might be his destiny to follow in his father’s footsteps, down a path that leads to madness, and death.

Is there really a Curse that has been haunting his family, like his father believed? It is up to David to uncover the horrible truths, buried under generations of silence and fathoms of stone. Black Mirror Castle demands an offering...
KEY FEATURES
  • A modern re-imagining of the acclaimed gothic-horror adventure series
  • Interactions with vision-like apparitions which help you learn more about the past of your family
  • Eerie atmosphere focusing on the horrors of the mind, in the style of EA Poe and HP Lovecraft
  • High quality voice acting from a compelling ensemble cast

THE STORY
"I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity."
Edgar Allan Poe

David Gordon never knew his estranged father particularly well. Still it comes as a shock when he is summoned to his family's ancestral home in the Scottish highlands, after his father has taken his own life there. David does not know much about his father's final weeks, but the circumstances of his death seem more than peculiar. Settling the heritage is merely an excuse for David to find out more about the castle his father grew up in, meeting the family he never knew and for shedding light on the mysteries surrounding his father's death.

Tormented by nightmares and waking dreams for all his life, he fears that it might be his destiny to follow in his father's footsteps, down a path that leads to madness and death.

Is there really a curse that has been haunting his family for generations as his father believed? Or are the mysteries hidden inside the cold walls of Black Mirror house of a far more wordly nature?

It is up to David to uncover the horrible truths, buried under generations of silence and fathoms of stone.

ABOUT THE GAMEPLAY
"They who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night."
Edgar Allan Poe

The point-and-click gameplay of the original trilogy served as the basis for the re-imagined gameplay, which focuses on close-up investigation and interaction with nightmarish visions that plague the protagonist of the game David Gordon.

ABOUT THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY
"No man can choose his death."
Detective Collier, Black Mirror (2003)

In the original adventure trilogy, Samuel Gordon and Darren Michaels search for the truth behind the Curse of the Black Mirror that has haunted the Gordon-family for generations.

The acclaimed original trilogy laid the foundation Black Mirror (2017) is built upon.

Dense gothic horror atmosphere, rich visual details and a dark story full of characters who are not what they seem to be - the journey of Samuel Gordon and Darren Michaels is as captivating today as it was when the games were first released.

Disappointing

If you're a fan of the other Black Mirror games, this one will be a total disappointment. It looks and sounds good, but that's avout it. Is's short, the story-telling is clumsy, the characters are poorly devised, the gameplay isn't satisfying and the controls are pure horror.

After other 3 B. M. games, I tried this

Oh dear... I would not recommend this to my enemy! Abysmal consolish controls, poorly optimised engine with subpar graphics, terrible camera which you can NOT control, INVISIBLE WALLS everywhere, terrible UI, inventory management etc. And come to think of it, this game was more expensive than previous 3 combined! Any positives? I guess voice acting was good of what I've seen at the begining and thats about it. DO NOT BUY THIS! EVEN when it's on SALE!

Dead on arrival.

After playing the original 3 Black Mirror games, I couldn't way to play this "reboot" of the franchise. The game turned out to be barely playable, horribly designed and completely soulless. This is not a point and click adventure game like the originals, it is not even a good replacement for them. The only effort made when creating this game appears to be with the art assets, everything else is utterly disappointing. This is games deserves an award for how bad it is. Please just play the original 3 Black Mirror games and pretend this one never existed.

Not being able to rebind the keys deserves one star for modern games in any case, but added to that, being able to pick your own keybinds is a disability issue. As someone who can't use wasd at all, I'd give negative stars if I could. It's so much more than just a matter of convenience.

Not as good as the old trilogy.

Just finished the game, on one sitting. Never playing it again. The graphical assets and the aesthetic are decent. I had artifacts and clippings all the time and even some frame drops. Gaming at 1440p was not fulfilling, I took it down to 1080p after a bit as it's very unoptimized graphically. Sound is alright : Voice acting is superb, ambient sounds are decent, sound effects are repetitive, kind of loud and generally tiresome after a while. UI is cumbersome. It gets the job done but that's just about it. It is slow and unintuitive. Movement throughout is a chore. There are constantly invisible barriers that stop your momentum immediately and slow you to a crawl. This is too constraining and limits the experience significantly. Hotspots are visible and interactable based on proximity and viewing and that mechanic is implemented in an extremely tedious way. It lowered my experience significantly. Animation is... bad. Seriously, apart from walking everything else ( like moving limbs and lips) is implemented in a very rushed and unpolished way. The game is based on animation in order to progress its cutscenes. I had a lot of freezes when automatic animations were obstructed by the game's own environment and could not complete and character could not be where the coded needed it to be in order to keep executing. Very sad, cheap and completely frustrating when I had to reload several times due in order to get out of it. At one point, simply talking to your companion while they are kneeling in the lakeshore deadlocks you into freezing. Overarching story is pretty decent but game feels rather short for it. It could easily be double its size. Plot is alright and dialogue lines are mostly very well made with some very notable drops here and there. The whole game felt like it was rushed but by using professionals. Extremely unpolished in pretty much everything, it provided me with a very low quality gameplay experience reminiscent of 2000s games.
