same old
I dont know. I found it pretty boring. First off there's no interesting races to choose. Just your run of the mill human, elf, dark elf(which they call something else), dwarf and then basically just a human barbarian race...that has little tusks.... like a poor man's orc i guess? I mean whats the point of even making a unique race if it's just gonna be a human with little horns coming out of thier cheeks? It might be cool even if they had big cool looking tusks.. but no... just tiny little protrusions.. and no cool looking portraits. For the game itself, you start in a courtyard, talk to some lady, go into a castle, have to run around and check a bunch of chests to find "your gear", which is just basic gear.. not sure why you didn't just start with it in your inventory.? And then you have to serve a bunch of stuck up rich people drinks.. and guess what kind of drink they ordered.. i guess? Then a bunch of dudes storm the castle and start killing everyone, ... so you just move the mouse cursor over them and click.. and kill them, until this other rich dude tells you to fetch his sword, which is just sitting in a room a mere ten feet away... when you go and fetch it like a good little slave he locks you in the room, and the bad guys then kill everyone....... including him.. by the hand of his own son?. And then some kind of witch lady voice says something in your head and you fall over and pass out. wake up in a room with her and she tells you to "rest", and then you're supposed to activate the "resting' mechanic.. I dont know. I stopped playing after that. Just kind of dissappointing. No innovation. Same old same old.

This is not worth your time
I am about two hours in. There is so much wrong with this game. Do not bother. As usual for GOG reviews, the top 5-star reviews are clearly paid for, or done by bots, not genuine human beings' opinions. For one, I keep forgetting what the game is called. Black Geyser: -- I had to stop writing this review to go check what the subtitle was. Couriers of Darkness. There are no hooks in that name. The art of the guy with his two faces does not hook, or link, or click, with the name Black Geyser nor the name Couriers of Darkness. Neither did anything I saw in the first two hours of the game. I was interested in this game a few weeks ago but struggled to find it because I could not remember its name. I'll probably forget it again after writing this review. It's clunky. A game inspired by the classics from the 90s and early 00s should not play as bad as they did. But this is that bad, or worse. The buttons are tiny, the icons are not descriptive. It's not clear which tab is open on your character screen. Feedback comes in slowly. Games today need to be better than games from 20 years ago, not worse. There should be an inventory sort option for price:value ratio. That should be mandatory for these sorts of games. Tutorials appear in the top right of the screen, instead of the top left, where they should be. We read left-to-right, top-to-bottom. If something new appears on screen you want us to look at, like a tutorial box, place it in the top-left. Furthermore, tutorial icons use the same color scheme as the rest of the game, so they blend in with all the other brown and off-yellow colors on screen. They don't stand out. The voice acting is painfully bad. The voice actors do not speak like English speakers speak. It's as if they got people who do not speak English to voice these lines. Their intonation is all over the place. I don't mean accents. I mean the pitch and volume of their voices flails wildly about with each line. Why bother having voice acting then?

Poor man's Baldur's Gate: yawn!
Yet another Baldur's Gate clone, unfortunately it does not allow for turn based combat and only has the terrible realtime with pause system that was already garbage in Baldur's Gate 1. The 2D graphics are alright but nothing to write home about, character models however are mediocre. Everyone who's played Pillars of Eternity or BG will recognize the HUD and have no problem with the controls. Black Geyser really isn't sufficient nourishment for RPG-starved gamers out there. It anages to be even duller than the mediocre Pathfinder games.
