A Masterpiece
Back in the days BioShock was announced i was very hyped. The Atmosphere, the idea behind the game, everything is so great in this game. The german voice recording is very professional. The directors commentary are a fantastic idea. It's a great game, i can recommend to play it.

Constant crashing and other problems
I never played this when it was released. Personally, from what I experienced, it seemed like a good game but nothing I'd label a "masterpiece" or "art". I think people are a little off the mark with such high praise. Unfortunately, I couldn't bring myself to finish the game because of the constant crashes and other problems I had. The game would crash when opening or closing the map, it would randomly drop to a one-frame-per-ten-seconds frame rate, the screen would just go white sometimes. The audio would start looping all weird. It was a mess. Every time this happened, I'd have to force quit, sometimes have to restart my computer, and then I'd have to readjust all the settings and key bindings because each crash erased my previous adjustments. This happened at least once every play session, usually early on but sometimes it happened after playing for a while and I lost a bunch of progress too. I just checked out a list of all the levels and I made it to about half way through the game. I can't bring myself to keep dealing with all these problems for another handful of hours. I recommend staying away from this game. As I said, I don't think it really lives up to the hype and it's another case of rose colored glasses for a game that may have been more impressive in the past but honestly, there are other games that had been released before this one that I personally think are more impressive and interesting.

Expected more...
I know this game is a classic - and a classic I had missed until now. But I'm sorry to say: it just didn't connect with me. I'm now more than 10 hours in and I'm still not hooked. The gameplay is somewhat fun with a lot of creative weapons and powers, but often the true challenge isn't the enemeys themselves but your ability to navigate the power and weapon selection. Why is the photocamera (that is completly useless in a fight) in between two weapons? Same goes for passive and active powers. Why do I have to manually select a different bullet-type when I'm running out of my current selected...? It's a fascinating world, but I need a story to pull me through. And unfortunatly the main story so far isn't more than "I'm stranded in this strange underwater-city and there is this guy telling me to go to him, to get rescued. End of story"

Not the masterpiece I was led to believe
This game is often praised for its style, immersive world etc and it's not a bad game at all but to me it seems like a game that wants to be both an RPG and a shooter and it doesn't really win in any category. The shooting is not very good, the weapons are cartoonish and lack any grit or aim. The playstyle is that you should combine plasmids (superpowers) with the shooting but to me it got old pretty fast. The game is suprisingly a remake of System Shock but in an underwater world. To me the world is not especially immersive yeah there's fish swimming outside the windows but nothing else. On normal the game is ridiculously easy and you have an abundance of items and it is pretty much impossible to die compared to system shock where you generally have to think about your upgrades, scavenge for every item and your choices have a real impact on the outcome. I hate games that constantly hold your hand and tell you exactly what to do and where to go, no puzzles and no real challenge and I was mostly bored the whole time.
