BIOMUTANT® is an open-world, post-apocalyptic Kung-Fu fable RPG, with a unique martial arts styled combat system allowing you to mix melee, shooting and mutant ability action.
A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided. Explore a world in turmoil and define its fate – will you be its saviour or lead it to an even darker destiny?
Key Features:
A NEW TAKE ON 3rd PERSON COMBAT
The martial arts style combat system allows you maximum freedom of movement and agility while mixing shooting, melee and powers from your mutations. Learning new Wung-Fu combat forms through progression and learning from masters you’ll meet, will constantly add to your choices and make sure combat never gets old.
EVOLVE YOUR GAME-PLAY
You’ll be able to re-code your genetic structure to change the way you look and play. This will of course affect your attributes and in addition to this, exposure to bio-contamination in the world will lead to mutations like the Turtleform and Mucus Bubble, while exposure to radioactivity found in bunkers from the old world will affect your mind and unlock psi-mutations like telekinesis, levitation and more.
NEXT LEVEL OF CRAFTING
You are totally free when crafting weapons. Mix and match parts to create your own unique 1H or 2H slash and crush weapons. Revolvers, rifles and shotguns and add modifications like cork-screws and battery-powered chainsaw modules to bio-contaminated sludge vials adding to your combat arsenal. There are even characters you’ll meet that’ll craft cool stuff for you, like bionic wings, a jump-pack and even let you modify your Automaton - the scrap-toy sidekick!
GEAR UP FOR ADVENTURE
You are totally free when equipping your character. Not only when it comes to choosing weapons you created, but what type of gear you wear. Equip a gas-mask and an oxygen tank for exploring the Dead Zones, thermos-resistant clothes for venturing into cryonic areas or protective gear for taking on bio-contaminated creatures, the choice is up to you.
SURVIVE IN A VIBRANT OPEN WORLD
You are free to explore the world and what lies beneath its surface, by foot, mech, jet-ski, air-balloon or area unique mounts. Explore the dying wildland, the tunnels and bunker networks of the underworld, and find your way up the mountains or out in the archipelago. There are lots of discoveries to be made, mysteries to unravel, creatures to confront and weird characters to meet in this vibrant and colorful world.
AN UNUSUAL STORY WITH AN UNUSUAL END
Your actions play a major part in the unfolding of a story where End is coming to the New World. A plague is ruining the land and the Tree-of-Life is bleeding death from its roots. The Tribes stand divided, in need of someone strong enough to unite them or bring them all down...
You are guided through the world by a Storyteller that narrates every step of your journey, but it’s your actions and choices that’ll decide how your story of survival ends.
I'm not a big fan of open world games, maybe play one once every few years, Biomutant fills that place. The character movement is on point, lot of different abilities, weapons, etc.
I'm sure it doesnt do anything really unique, besides it's astethic, but if you do not play many open world games, this might be fun for you as it was for me
I refused to watch all the BS negative reviews and opinions leading up to Biomutant's release because gaming is subjective and spoilers are aplenty these days. Gaming is also in a perilous position due to social media and the ever increasing crying and moaning no matter what a develpoer does these days. Instead of "thank you" it's always "more' or "I need this" or "the game's too different" or of course "It's the same game every year". I'm sure I missed a few. If I love something and look forward to it, I learned not to create this false hype. It's great to be excited, but hyping yourself up YOUR OWN expectations and getting something different does not make it a bad game. Biomutant throws plenty of ideas and functions in the mix, old and new, and it all starts coming together quickly. I love how smooth the combat and exploration are. There are a great deal of techniques to master in terms of skills and combat, and there's still a massive crafting system to mention. The graphics aren't exactly realistic, but damn do they bring this amazing, zany world to life. I love the mix of 3D, cartoon, and realism, it looks like an insane world where survival (and Wung Fu) is paramount. I'm going to be honest as always, and adjust my score as needed. Until then I'm going to say Biomutant is one of the best things to happen to gaming in a while. I'm loading back in. I hope you enjoy the game for what it is, not what it isn't!
The games visuals are stunning but thats where the good things end. The story isnt anything to write home about and the controls for keyboard and mouse are horrid. Unless you play with a controller which i dont have nor want, or you play on consoles which i also dont have. Button combo mashing on PC doesnt work very well. Stop doing it devs! Mousewheel skill scroll would have been nice but you cant even bind the keys in such a way to make this possible.
So 1 star for the visuals, 1 star for the combat, 1 star for the passion the devs clearly put in. Minus 2 stars because PC players were clearly a afterthought.
This is an awesome game, at least to me. I love exploration and the game has plenty of that, with some really great ideas, characters and interactions.
It isnt't perfect, but it doesn't need to be. It's interesting and feels like something new and exiting. I love just running around the map and seeing all the cool things and silly jokes the devs put in.
