You were a disciple of the Divine, a servant of light on a never-ending crusade to fight evil. But fate has made a terrible turn on you. During an epic battle with a powerful necromancer, dreadful daemon named Samuel tricked you and dragged you to his dimension. There you were trapped and tortured. But like every typical daemon lord, he had a very twisted, sadistic sense of humour, so he decided to chain your soul to that of a Deathknight. Thus he cursed you to spend the rest of eternity bound to a creature you were fighting all you life. Now you must work together to escape your prison and find a way to break this curse!

Only gave 3 stars because the game is too bugged, if wasn't for that i would give a better rating. In my humble opinion this game is better than Divine Divinity when comes to gameplay and combat, if someday this goes to GoG Preservation Program and receive the proper care, would be awesome.
In Beyond Divinity, the arch demon Samuel has bound your soul to that of a Death Knight. While opposites in terms of alignment and personality, the two of you agree to work together to escape the curse.
You choose one of three classes (though you can customize and mix them through your choices): Warrior, Wizard and Survivor (Rogue). As mentioned above, you also get the Death Knight as a henchman, and can use summoning dolls to get temporary party members. You can customize the skills of all of them.
The game offers addictive action You can control either one of the characters, or both. The other character will auto-attack. I picked a Wizard for the main character and actively controlled the Death Knight. While the Death Knight ran around the enemies, my Wizard hit them with spells. While the action was a lot of fun, the game is more than just hack-and-slash. There are meaningful dialogue choices, puzzles to solve, etc.
The graphics are quite good (check out the screenshots), though I would have preferred some more variation in the backgrounds.
The music was nice and added to the immersion in the game. The voice-acting was also generally good, with some exceptions.
Overall, this game should offer hours of fun to anyone looking for a good hack-and-slash with considerable depth.
I would love to buy the developers on this game a beer and talk about this game... or maybe they should buy me one???
I finished it and spent 63 hours of my life on this game. Like, I wanna know what happened between this and Divine Divinity. Can someone make a documentary on it. The plot is like a bad 80's fantasy film, I wanna know how it got green lit.
The voice acting sounds like it was made in a parents basement, between two actors. Sometimes, it's not even the same voice between characters.
I think you have to have a very particular love of CRPG's and maybe be over 30 to play this game. Sometimes it was fun to play, and had that go to a town, talk to people, do some quests feel that I don't get from something like mass effect in a snese. There was some cool references to Divine Dvinity, and I liked that it took place on another world.
Sometimes, the puzzles or quests were so dumb or so broken, that I had to use multiple walkthroughs. Why did I finish this?? Sunk cost fallacy, and it was just so WEIRD on many levels.
